Cerveza: Oude syrah Tilquin á L´ancienne
Cervecera: Gueuzerie Tilquin (Rebecq, Bélgica)
Estilo: Lambic - Fruit
Alcohol: 8º
Execelente cerveza.
For this week's #beersaturday I bring you, as I call it, a liquid gem.
This is the Oude syrah Tilquin á L´ancienne (2021/22) by Gueuzerie Tilquin. A spontaneously fermented beer, which is one that does not use yeast in its fermentation, the beer is fermented by the wild yeast present in the air of the breweries. Complex brewing beers, even more so due to the peculiarity of this brand, which as a curiosity, does not brew beer, they only dedicate themselves to buying batches of beer or "Blend" to later mix them under the supervision of the brand's master brewers to a final fermentation in the bottle.
Beer: Oude syrah Tilquin á L´ancienne
Brewery: Gueuzerie Tilquin (Rebecq, Belgium)
Style: Lambic - Fruit
Alcohol: 8º
Vintage: 2021
Format: 75cl bottle
This beer has approximately 185 grams of red Syrah grapes per liter. An abundance of fruit that is the key to the character, aroma and flavor of this beer.
It is a mixture, as I said before, of several batches of beer from different years. The result, an acidic beer with a lot of grape flavor.
Perfectly integrated those 8º of alcohol that are not noticeable at all.
The aroma is more typical of a wine.
Excellent beer.
What an interesting beer! But it sounds like a liquid gem as you rightly said! I would love to taste this beer, as I love the idea of wild fermentation. And it is from Belgium, they know what they are doing when it comes to wild fermented beers. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for comment.
Correct, in Belgium, in addition to the creators of this style, they are the best at making these beers. Along with Tilquin, there are also other brands, even better ones like Cantillon or 3 fonteinen
I will look out for these, maybe I can score some of them. Thanks for mentioning these beers!
