It's Dry January 2024 for Me

Dry January

Once again, I'm having a crack of Dry January. I did it last year, and I must say I really enjoyed it, so I'm going to give it a go again this year. I Think it's pretty self explanatory, but for those who don't know what Dry January is, it is basically giving up alcohol for the month of January.

I really enjoy @detlev's weekly Beer Saturday contests, so I will continue to take part during Dry January and just think back on beers I had before or good beer related stories.

Thinking back on Pints

There were pints at home....

There were pints at the local...

There were pints of IPA....

And everything in between...

Even some Vino Tinto...

Did you ever try going dry?

Did any of guys ever give Dry January a go? I'd highly recommend it to be honest, especially after the hustle and bustle and over indulgence of Christmas.

I'm only 7 days in, but so far so good and not so much as an inkling of temptation as of yet. My brother did it with me last year and continued it on for 4 months, fair dues to him. One month was enough for me and I really enjoyed the few pints in early February I must admit.

Never heard of it and already failed at it. I had a dream of Blanton's, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit and Jameson last night!

Haha, stupid autocorrect. Of course I meant dram. I was sitting at the car dealership in the waiting room typing that on my phone.

Ha ha ha, sorry dude! Genuinely thought you meant dream, we don't use that word 'dram' here in Ireland 😁

I don't really use it either. It just makes me sound cool here!

You could drink non alcoholic beers during the dry January ;) Some of them are really good, [Maisel’s Weisse](Maisel’s Weisse) brews some nice batches. And at least here in the Czech Republic, even crafted microbreweries slowly focus on non-alcoholic beers.

You know what? I can't think of a time where I have went dry for a month. I have a pint or so a night and try and limit that so that I am not letting the fire grow to the point where something drastic like a month off is the course of action.

Still, I may consider doing that for February. Or perhaps when the beers in the fridge right now run out. It will definitely help my monthly budget and make my return to regular Jiu Jitsu training a lot more manageable! ;)

Ya no harm man, last year was the first time I tried it, and it was actually great. It was fun having a night out in February too after the month had passed. Not much happens here in January too, so it's as good a month as any!

Ouch! I've tried it, but it never stuck. Then again I don't over indulge on the holidays. I stick to one or two drinks a day and stick to it. Damn I miss those years I live in the Caribbean when I was young and dumb!

Ah ya I'm the same man, two or three drinks mostly, unless I'm out out, which happens maybe once every couple of months.
