MY BEST SEASON EVER -- HiveNaija Contest

I believe every thing that has advantage also has disadvantage. Favouring one season over the other will definitely lead to some problems. For example, When there is no rain, there would be water scarcity, drought and some plants and even humans will die.

However for the purpose of this task, I am choosing a dry season over a wet season. Below are my reasons.

WHY I LOVE DRY SEASON

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES**
Have you attended a wedding ceremony during rain? I attended one in July and on that day, it rained like the flood of Noah. 😃. If I were to be the bride, I would cry my eyes out. But the bride was not bothered. She said whether rain likes it or not, she is already married.

We used umbrella to serve food to the guest who ran to different corners of the house and the varendas of neighbours. It wasn't in a hall, it was supposed to be in the girl's compound, because it was a traditional marriage. But during dry season, you can have your wedding reception in a field , so natural and beautiful. That's where I had mine. It was a blessed day 😃 . You can also engage in other outdoor activities like hiking, visiting friends, having a picnic, etc during dry season.

I can't count the number of times I went late for work because even an umbrella couldn't hold the rain for me to catch a taxi.

FARMING ACTIVITIES
Bush clearing, burning and planting of crops are better done in dry season. Even harvesting is good in dry season. Have you tried harvesting melon from the farm during rain?. It's so smelly and as the rain drops on the bag of the melon, the smelling water bathes you. 😅. I have really suffered growing up, hahaha. But on the other hand, harvesting cassava during dry season breaks the waist. Hahaha. It is pleasurable during the wet season. All the same, I prefer dry season for farming activities because some crops may die of excessive rain. I prefer to find how to irrigate the plants than allow them die of excessive rain.

NO COLD
I am allergic to cold. I was born in December during the harmattan period, yet I am not used to cold. I become sickly during cold and suffer some kind of itches. I wonder how I would survive if I have a way to leave Nigeria 😅. So I prefer dry season . Even if there is heat, once I take a shower and take cool breaze, I am fine 😅. Sometimes if too hot, I can wear something light and lie on the cold tiles and I am ok. If there is light, my fan does good job too. No AC in my room 😭. But I have never coped with a cold weather, it is always hard for me.

NO MOSQUITOES
That is one creature that I find very hard to understand why it was created. It is a parasite, it sucks our blood but has no benefit to man. Yet during rain, stagnant water and bushes nearby generate it and they cause Malaria . This can be prevented if all seasons were dry😅

WATER BORNE DISEASE ARE ELIMINATED
During dry season, there is no room for water borne diseases. But these are inevitable during rain or excessive rainfall. People dump refuse in water or even pass excrement in water. Using that water can cause skin disease and water borne diseases. This can be prevented if we had it all dry.

Like I stated, life will not survive with only one season. God is wise to have made it rotate, we have wet season and after a period, dry season comes. So it is hard to completely vote for one season over the other. However, above are my reasons for preferring dry season over wet season.

ACTIVIDADES AGRÍCOLAS

Pero, por otro lado, cosechar yuca durante la estación seca rompe la cintura. Jajaja. Es placentero durante la temporada de lluvias. De todos modos, prefiero la estación seca para las actividades agrícolas porque algunos cultivos pueden morir por el exceso de lluvia. NO ESTÁ FRÍO

Soy alérgico al frío. Nací en diciembre durante el período harmattan, pero no estoy acostumbrado al frío. Me pongo enfermo durante el resfriado y sufro algún tipo de picazón. Esa es una criatura que me resulta muy difícil entender por qué fue creada. Es un parásito, chupa nuestra sangre pero no beneficia al hombre.
