Art and Creativity Journal: A Slow Start to 2025

”The road to hell is paved with good intentions!”

It's one of those things people like to say, and I must admit that this year my creative endeavors have fallen somewhat victim to it.

I intended to hit the ground running in 2025, but that just hasn't been the case. For starters, my creative workspace hasn't even been available to use since January 3rd, because it has been occupied by the new kitchen range we were waiting to get installed. We only just got things put back into place earlier today.

But that's not really much of an excuse!

We have already reached the midpoint in the month of January, and I finally feel like I have gotten things sorted to the point where I can chart a path forward.

I never worked very well with loose ends dangling in my life!

One of the primary things on that path is I've decided that I will have another shot at ”The 100-day Project” this year because it has become painfully obvious to me that I need a substantial "motivational carrot" dangling out in front of me in order to do anything more than work a bit ”whenever I feel like it.”

Committing to the challenge in a public venue like this should help me stay at least a little bit more focused!

I have rather a lot of other stuff going on this weekend so I have decided my starting point will be Monday the 20th of January, which will take me through approximately till the beginning of May... which is pretty good timing considering that's also about the time when we start in on our schedule of arts and craft shows for the year.

I have decided that for this year's challenge, each day will "require" me to do at least a little bit — even if just symbolic — in three different areas:

  1. Do at least a little bit of painting or something otherwise related to creating or finishing new work.
  2. Do at least a little bit of something relating to social media marketing; even if it is just a single tweet.
  3. List at least one new item for sale every day, or update an antiquated listing to current status.

After all, the purpose of this challenge is to establish new habits... so they need to be useful.

If I can do the above and keep it up for 100 days, then I should be a lot further along than I am now!

As a closing thought, I have decided I am not going to make myself beholden to creating a new post every single day, but if I miss a day — or several days — I'm at least going to provide a brief summary of what happened on each day. In an ideal world, of course, I would find the time to create daily updates.

But I know myself and it's probably more than I should expect! Being realistic matters!

I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Thank You!

Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.
