Art & Creativity: Obstacles and Enthusiasm
Well, that was another three hours of my life I will never get back!
So yes, the Amazon Handmade saga continues.
As I write these words, I am now in the middle of no less than the third Amazon "Case Number" with multiple departments of the ecommerce giant, all in service of hoping to sell some Alchemy Stones on their wretched site.
I hate when "things don't work" on web sites, and I also hate when I pinpoint the error and provide screenshots of each step... only to be treated like I started using technology yesterday.
In the course of the last three days, I've gone from the general helpdesk, to the "Seller Services" helpdesk to now having my situation land at the "Account Health" helpdesk.
At least I got to talk to someone who understood the meaning of the phrase "corrupted file" and could grasp the concept of invalid file extensions causing a conflict and rendering a file unreadable. Yes, appending ".pdf" to a JPG file does not automatically make it a PDF file...
In the end, I was "allowed" to upload the image files as an attachment to an email form, and — of course — they were perfectly legible and not corrupted, pointing the finger back around at Amazon's source code on a particular page.
Even so, I now get to wait another 2-10 business days for someone to actually review the information and act on it. But at least it felt like a step forward... of sorts.
I hope all this hassle will turn out to be worthwhile... looking back at my old records suggests it will be, but I must remember — at least from this point forward — to make sure there's some kind of activity on the account, at least once a month.
That tends to be one of the challenges of maintaining multiple sales venues: You upload your inventory and then tend to leave it more or less alone while you promote it externally.
Meanwhile, I am trying really hard to maintain my sense of enthusiasm for this endeavor, in the face of the ongoing obstacles. Maybe life always has nothing but obstacles... and my expectations are what need adjusting. I don't know...
And that's all the update I have for this go around.
