Special Items: Solstice Stone

As I have mentioned before I'm usually hesitant to take on "Special Projects" because it's difficult to live up to people's expectations, but recently somebody asked me to create them a "Solstice Stone," and basically said I could do whatever my own interpretation of that would be.

This person was Pagan although not a regular practitioner. The stone was going to end up in their personal sacred space.

Basically, they provided me with the blank stone which was something they had found on a beach that was important to them, and I then got to provide my artistic and energetic sense of what a "Solstice Stone" might be.

So I was given a very smooth black oblong Stone about 4" (10cm) long, with an interesting indentation in the back — although the back wasn't where I was going to put any design — this flat spot on the back made the stone "sit up" a little bit.

After sitting with it for a while I decided to create a stone with the fatter part representing the Earth in what I would consider more winter/earthy colors... our "Little Blue Marble" in space so to speak... and then the smaller top end (because that is how it sits on the table) getting a small design in yellows, orange and gold, representing the Sun.

I just put the finishing touches on it this morning and now it needs to dry and cure so I can put the Finish coat on it. All in all, I'm fairly happy with how it turned out and I hope the customer will also be happy with it.

In the meantime, we're still waiting to hear whether there are going to be any pre-Valentine's Day shows we're going to attend as vendors, this year.

I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Thank You!

Oh, what a nice stone, I've actually tried it, but not as nice as you painted!

Thank you for your kind words! It takes a lot of patience as you probably are aware, but I find that it is a very good meditation, as well!
