The 100-Day Project, Day 26 — Busy Saturday; Starting Another Very Large Stone
Day 26 of the 100-Day Project. Closing in on that (allegedly) important 28th day where an activity is supposed to have become a "habit" if you do it every day.
The truth (or not) of that assertion remains to be seen. Stay tuned!
Set of 4 stones representing the four elements: Water, Earth, Air, Fire
So we had our first truly warm and sunny day of 2024 today, so some of the day did get given to gardening and being outside... and I realize (well, DUH!) that I can't be in two places at the same time, and that likely will become a bit of an issue for this challenge, as we move down the road a bit further.
So far, so good.
One of the other "truths" I have been trying to come to terms with is that I truly don't have the time to give to art and creativity that some of my "successful colleagues" have, and that's pretty much what you need to be willing to do for commercial viability.
And I'm actually not too ashamed of how Alchemy Stones "does" when we go to events and festivals. But this is very much a spare time gig, and spare time is not something you have a lot of, when you typically work-for-money for a different 60 hours a week or so.
Beginning the large stone
Day 26 Stone Painting:
Decided I would take on another fairly large stone that likely will take a couple (or three) days to complete.
This is what I have typically called a "Sun Stone," and the reason for that will likely become evident as I complete it!
This one will take a while.
This was a type of stone I first started making back when we had our brick and mortar store here in town. They seem to be quite popular so it became a regular color combination set I would use.
The Sun idea is starting to show
This stone is turning out to be a bit tricky. In part, the surface is not as smooth as I typically like to work with... but that's such a rarity on stones more than about 2" across that I can't really afford to be picky.
The stone is also turning out to have quite a few "micro-fissures" which are "stealing" paint and causing to to run in small lightning bolts I don't really want.
This is about as much as I have energy for, today...
Day 26 Summary and Social Media Bits:
Working on painting a new large stone: Nothing finished to show, of course, but I think it'll be a nice one... and I do need to "represent" with more of the large real art pieces over $100.
Daily Twitter/X post: Fail. Just not feeling it.
Daily Facebook Page post: Fail. Same.
Daily Instagram post: Fail. Same.
Other Stuff: As usual, this Hive post; otherwise really more into being outside than dealing with creative stuff, then dealing with eBay; Daily shoutout to @gillianpearce!
Day 26 completed; creative work somewhat took a back seat to being outside in the nice warm weather. In the end, I just didn't have the energy and bandwidth to deal with the social media end of things... after 26 days, I'm really reminded of how much that stuff just bores me to tears. I say that, but I also recognize it is an essential part of marketing for artists. I just don't enjoy it...
