In the life of each nation around the world, religious beliefs are very important, which allow many people to continue their daily lives by believing in something beyond that helps them in their life and that has a pattern of righteousness and example of life that continue.

In the Western world and more so in South America the official religion in most countries is the Catholic religion, which was brought by the Spanish conquest and imposed on the aboriginal residents in each country conquered by the Spanish, and this influence is see even in our days with the construction of temples or churches destined for the worship of God in the form and manner that Catholics have to do so.

One of these most important churches in Caracas is the Church of Santa Teresa, which is located between the corners of La Palma and Santa Teresa in the center of the city, in the Santa Teresa Parish of the Libertador Municipality.

This basilica has a neoclassical style with a central dome where the main altar is located under it, the west façade is dedicated to Saint Anne and the east façade to Saint Teresa.

Thus we can appreciate the façade of this church with that style that shows the influence on architecture brought from Spain.

One of the characteristics of the Catholic religion and that in the movement of separation this tendency was eliminated is that in addition to the worship of God, Catholics usually venerate the so-called saints and representations of the Virgin Mary or Jesus, according to the apparition where it happened, which to someone who sees it from the outside seems as if the Catholic religion were a polytheistic religion.

In this church there is a relic of Saint Justin the Martyr. This relic, consisting of fragments of his bones, was returned to public worship on Christmas 1986.

Saint Justin was a 2nd century Christian philosopher and martyr. Known for his Apologies, in which he defended the Christian faith before the Roman emperors, Justin is considered one of the Fathers of the Church.

An important part of the images present in this basilica we have several images of Mary, which is an important part of the images venerated by Catholics, where there are various representations of Mary according to the appearance attributed to her.

This church is quite popular and has many faithful who go to masses every day. In fact, on December 9, 1959, this church was declared a National Historic Monument.

But what this temple is most famous for is the cult of the Nazarene of Saint Paul, which is the representation of Jesus Christ who carries the cross on the way to crucifixion and carries the linen clothing that the Romans put on him to mock because he was king of the Jews.

This image is one of the most venerated during Holy Week and attracts many faithful who sign up to carry the image of the Nazarene or accompany him dressed in his clothes.

This is why this image is highly venerated and many faithful who testify to miracles that have worshiped this image are those who make the pilgrimage and procession wearing the clothes of the Nazarene as an act of gratitude for the miracle received.

En la vida de cada nación en todo el mundo es muy importante las creencias religiosas, que permiten a muchas personas seguir su vida diaria al creer en algo mas allá que les ayude en su vida y que tiene un patrón de rectitud y ejemplo de vida que seguir.

En el mundo occidental y mas en Sudamérica la religión oficial en la mayor parte de .los pauses es la religión católica, la cual fue traída por la conquista española e impuesta a los residentes aborígenes en cada país conquistado por los españoles, y esta influencia se ve aun en nuestros días con la construcción de los templos o iglesias destinadas para el culto a dios en la forma y manera que tiene los católicos para hacerlo.

Una de estas iglesias mas importantes en caracas es la iglecia de santa teresa que se localiza entre las esquinas de La Palma y Santa Teresa en el centro de la ciudad, en la Parroquia Santa Teresa del Municipio Libertador.

Esta basílica posee un estilo neoclásico con una cúpula central donde se sitúa bajo ella el altar mayor, la fachada oeste está dedicada a Santa Ana y la fachada este a Santa Teresa.

Así podemos apreciar la fachada de esta iglesia con ese estilo que muestra la influencia en la arquitectura traídas desde España.

Una de las características de la la religión católica y que en el movimiento que hubo de separación se elimina esta tendencia es que además de el culto a dios, los católicos suelen venerar a los denominados santos y a representaciones de la virgen maría o de Jesús, según la aparición donde allá acontecido, lo que para alguien que lo vea por fuera pareciera como si la religión católica fuera una religión politeísta.

En las fotos se ve la decoración y la presencia de muchas imágenes que son veneradas por los católicos como el divino niño, la santísima trinidad.

Aquí se ve como la influencia y el resultado del reciente éxodo de venezolanos y el retorno de los mismos desde Perú pudo influenciar y hacer mas común la veneración de la aparición de Jesús, que s venere en pero, el señor de los milagros.

En esta iglesia hay una reliquia la de San Justino Mártir. Esta reliquia, que consisten en fragmentos de sus huesos, fueron devueltas al culto público en la Navidad de 1986.

Una parte importante de las imágenes presente en esta basílica tenemos varias imágenes de maría que es una parte importante de las imágenes veneradas por los católicos, en donde hay diversas representaciones de maria según la aparición que se le adjudica.

Esta iglesia es bastante popular y presenta bastantes fieles que van a las misas todos los dias de hecho esta iglesia el 9 de diciembre de 1959 fue declarada Monumento Histórico Nacional.

Pero por lo que es mas famoso este templo es por el culto del nazareno de san pablo, que es la representación de Jesucristo que carga la cruz en vía a la crusificcion y carga la ropa de lino que le pusieron los romanos para burlarse por que era rey de los judíos.

Esta imagen es uno de mas veneradas en semana santa y atrae a muchos fieles que se apuntan a cargar la imagen del nazareno o lo acompañan vestido con sus ropas.

La devoción surge por la leyenda que cuenta en el año 1696, azotó la ciudad una epidemia de peste del vómito negro o escorbuto, y por la devoción popular hacia la imagen, fue sacada en rogativa. Durante la procesión pasó por un huerto cercano a su templo, sembrado de limoneros, y un racimo de limones quedó enredado entre la corona de espinas del nazareno, cayendo algunos al suelo. Los devotos los recogieron, dándolos como medicina a los enfermos, quienes sanaron prontamente.

Es por esto que esta imagen es muy venerada y muchos fieles que testifican milagros que les han hecho el culto a esta imagen sol los que hacen el peregrinaje y la procesión llevando las ropas del nazareno como acción de agradecimiento por el milagro recibido.
