Splinterlands Art Contest - Week 272 - Flame Mephit

Good weekend to y'all. Hope you're having a good time. Here's another entry for this week's Splinterlands Art Contest. The new card series has been doing it for me lately, so I've leaped into having them drawn first thing on my priority list. So, without further ado, let's get into the nitty of this week's entry.

The Process

First off, I started with the usual sketch and flat color, but recently I've noticed that I've been able to do it far faster than I ever used to (and at a more satisfactory quality too, I guess practice does make perfect).

I knew that I was to add a ton of fire to the result (so more yellows, oranges, and reds), so I tried taking shades of green for her clothes that required the least modifications to fit the result (other than the glows of fire on her clothes)

The Background

Midway through my drawing, I noticed that it was time to add some background to the drawing, and as fire has it, I decided to give it a dark reddish background for starters. Even though I added a ton of details like embers and fire over it, the original color went well enough that I sticked with it till the end.

The Result

Original Card Art

And here's how it ended up looking at the end. I added more embers that were created by her fire and added more oranges and reds to make the entire piece look more vibrant. I also fixed the color of the glow on her body and clothes to match that of the fire.
Hope you enjoyed this week's entry. Till next week, take care and have fun...
Cheers~~~
