Writing Prompt - A Plumbing Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

This post is inspired by a writing prompt in the Freewriters Community. They give us a picture, we see what we can do with it !

The original post is HERE and this is the picture;

Plumbing. My least favourite thing. I think I would rather visit a proctologist than have to mess around trying to get plumbing working.

It's guaranteed to be a miserable experience. Water is worse than oil when it comes to getting out and leaking when it shouldn't. One slightly worn washer, one loose connecting nut, and you'll come downstairs in the morning to a flooded kitchen or bathroom.

Just to make things interesting, plumbing arrangements appear to have been designed to be serviced by an octopus. An anti-gravity octopus at that. You are supposed to lean into a cupboard under the sink, turn your head like the Exorcist to look up at the mess of dust-covered pipes and bolts from below, and bend your arms and hands at angles only a double-jointed contortionist should be able to manage.

And you're supposed to do all this without toppling over, while a small crowd of family members gather around offering "helpful suggestions". As if they are suddenly experts ! But if I crawl back out and say "here you are, why don't you have a go, you're clearly an expert", I'm accused of being irrational and argumentative.

But on the up-side, the photo has WD-40 in. Wonderful stuff ! I use it all the time when I'm working on the bike. It's even helpful when doing plumbing. There's an old joke; if it moves but shouldn't, use gaffer tape, and if it doesn't move but should, use WD-40. They're not wrong. Did you know the main ingredient is fish oil ? It's called WD-40 because it's the 40th formula the inventor tried out, and the "WD" stands for "water dispersal".

So these are all the reasons why I hate doing plumbing. I'm not very good at it, and always end up worrying that if I've done something wrong I'll flood the house out. So, just like electrics, I have this down as a subject where I would far rather pay an expert to do it properly !

I thought you meant a small crowd of spiders and bugs crawling over you, guess that was me. My family hides it is safer than being asked to give a hand. Btw, I did not flood the house yet. 🤣

Thanks for joining us,
Greetings @wakeupkitty
