Hello wonderful people of this community, I welcome you all to the hive openmic week 213 music competition.

My name is Micheal with the username@ambmicheal and I'm glad to be part of this community and to be able to do this regardless of my flaws and shortcomings

The theme for the week is SELF LOVE

Today, I would be doing the cover for the song titled:

Someone you Loved - Lewis Capaldi

Due to the many heartbreaks i have experienced in the past, I've come to realize over time that, Self Love is the best gift one can give to oneself.

Often times, who love someone so much that we lose ourselves in the process, we give them our all, we are always there whenever they need us, we prioritize them and place these people above ourselves, we simply want the best for them, we give them everything at the expense of our sanity, forgetting that we are human too, and we deserve to be loved as well, we value these people but they have no regard for us, they don't even realize and acknowledge the love that we give to them.

I have met so many people who placed themselves above me, despite the fact that i put them above myself. When i love, i give it my all, and i ensure i do whatever it takes to make you happy.
One strange fact about me is that, i can be starving, but wouldn't mind breaking the bank for the one i love, just so i can see her smile.

I chose to sing "someone you loved" because it reminds of the things i went through in the hands of "unrequited love", I loved so deeply and I put people first, but they rub it to my face that i don't matter to them, I'm not on their top 3 list, when it comes to prioritizing people.
I remember the days I'd sit alone, devastated, I'd always play this song, it was always on repeat, i thought i needed someone to help me heal, someone to hold, someone to help me get over it, little did i know i was wrong, i needed me more than i needed anyone.

Thankfully, without much ado, i was made to realize that, the love we give to ourselves is not wasted effort compared to the one we give to partners who eventually becomes strangers overtime..

The love you give yourself
The money you spend on yourself
The care you show to yourself
How valuable you present yourself
are the things that enable people see your worth and not take you for granted.

I have learnt the hard way to say Yes when it's okay, and to say No, when it's not.
Self Love equals Self Respect, and i respect myself enough to walk away from what doesn't heal me but drains me instead.
And ultimately, it is better to be alone than to live with a lie.

Love yourself henceforth and you'll see your life glow
