Black Forest Gateau Stout. Can you pack all that flavour into one can?
Stout season is in full swing, and since I’ve raided the local micro pub of its entire stock of raspberry chocolate stout, I’ve had to delve deeper into their fridge to find another winter gem…
Cherry and chocolate are two of my favourite flavours, combine the two and I find them irresistible, mix this with strong stout and I become a slavering beer-zombie.
Vocation brewery are a solid outfit who’s offerings have appeared more than once in my #beersaturday back catalogue. This brewery hardly ever disappoint, however, they’re going to have to pull out all the stops if they’re to follow on successfully from the aforementioned raspberry chocolate stout. Surely a choc-cherry gateau will have what it takes…
Pouring stout is a sight to behold, especially a thick stout like this. Liquid pleasure rolling up the side of the glass and falling back on itself to create a layer of caramel coloured foam. The full content of the can fitting perfectly inside my favourite glass. Satisfaction guaranteed.
First we smell the beer… Oh yes, it’s good. Dark chocolate. Sweet barley and cherry. Mmmm 😋 Now, for the anticipation of the first sip. Will it live up to the hype?…
God damn! That’s a good stout. And that flavour! Out of this world. Liquid chocolate, like when you melt a chocolate digestive biscuit in front of the living room fire and lick off the topping. And cutting through the sweetness with a kick to the throat like Chuck Norris. Absolute cherry heaven.
Vocation brewery, this is a fantastic winter stout. Bravo. You’ve made a stout that’s more than passes the chocolate biscuit dip test 🤪
Tasting this beer makes the hefty £7.50 price tag seem like pennies. For me, depth in taste is everything and if a brewery can really deliver the flavour they advertise I’m more than happy to pay a little extra.
A perfect beer for a winter #beersaturday. Hope you’ve all had just as much success finding your own perfect beer for #beersaturday 🍺🍻
What a beer! Looks interesting but >£7 for a can...? Hefty!
I agree, £7 is a ridiculous price and I clench every time I buy a beer like this. However, a pint of Fosters is edging towards £5 a pint these days and that stuff tastes like dish water. If you can get hold of any down your end, just clench and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed 👍 !BEER
