Drinking & Driving

They say money can’t buy you happiness but this weekend my teenage daughter, who has no driving license, sat behind the wheel of a Lamborghini and raced it around a track as fast as she dared. Granted, it’s inevitable she will return to her moody teenage alter ego, but for now she’s all smiles.

While watching her wizz around the track at over 70mph, I remembered how good it feels to watch your kids enjoy a new experience. And even though I would loved to have been the one in the drivers seat, it didn’t make any difference because I honestly felt as though I were right there with her. I’m old enough to have experienced my fair share of thrill rides so I could imagine what she saw feeling as she turned into a corner faster than she’d ever done during any driving lesson I’d ever given her. I felt the excitement and when she appeared from her shiny white sports car we were both grinning from ear to ear.

Moments like this are magical and if you can extend moment then why not go ahead and do it. That’s just what I thought when our driving instructed informed us that we could have a lap in an Aerial Atom…

An Aerial Atom’ is basically a nuclear bomb with some wheels strapped to it. It’s unbridled horsepower will shoot you from 0-100mph quicker than you can say “I want my mummy!”. If someone offers you a lap in one of these cars, I’d forgive you for thinking twice. As it happens, my daughter is an adrenaline junkie so jumped at the chance.

Here we go again!

What a blast! And after all the struggles my daughter goes through there is no price you can put on seeing her smile the way she did today. I just hope she doesn’t expect me to buy her a Lamborghini after she passes her driving test!

Beer Time!

After all that excitement I think I’ve earned myself a nice cold beer, something special.

It was a nice sunny day and the mood was a happy one. That being so, I let my instincts choose my beer for the afternoon ahead. Great decision 😎

I’m not one for drinking sours but if ever I’m going to then a cherry flavoured Belgium wheat beer is the one for me. And it’s from Marks and Spencer, so I feel nice and snobby while buying it (I may even have to drink this with my little finger pointing upwards)

Surprisingly nice 👌

I’m trying my hardest not to let the shockingly great taste of this beer turn me into a sour drinker but Jesus Christ this beer is a compelling brew.

Admittedly, I could well be drinking a fruit cider as the actual taste of beer is a vague perception, but being that I’m in the mood I’m happy to convince myself that I’m drinking a beer. In fact, I’m more than happy. So much so that I returned to M&S to buy a couple more 🤣

At £2.50 a bottle and with an alcohol content of just 3.5%, I could drink these little creatures all day long. The sour cherry taste is perfect for a hot sunny day like today and cherry always goes well with chocolate so it would be rude not to indulge myself. Oh my…I’ve just realised, I’m turning into Bridgette Jones!

Ah well, it’s just for one day.

Happy #beersaturday folks! Hope you’re all enjoying it as much as me 😎
