π¨βπ» ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #64 πͺ The Wonders Of Wood πͺ΅ With Ecency Prizes
Greetings Hivers, @justinparke here with another new ASEAN Hive Community Challenge for you all, πͺ The Wonders Of Wood πͺ΅, so show me all the wood in your lives.
πͺ The Wonders Of Wood πͺ΅
π¨βπ» Week #64 π©βπ»
June 26th β‘οΈ July 3rd, 2023Β Β Β As a building material, wooding is hard to beat. It is lightweight, strong, weather resistant, renewable, and most of all versatile and beautiful. From a birdhouse to a log cabin, the wonders of wood are hard to ignore, and Southeast Asia is full of wooden structures, furniture, tools, and so much more. For this challenge I want to see wood, pretty simple huh?
Β Β Β Show me the beautiful and creative uses of wood around you. Because we have previously featured bamboo, for this challenge I think bamboo should be excluded because it has a life of its own in this part of the world. Even things as simple as an old cutting board have lots of character, and definitely shouldn't be overlooked for this challenge. My brother-in-law just carved a really nice wooden handle for our scythe yesterday, and this is what gave me the idea for this challenge.

Β Β Β This challenge was very eye-opening for me, and I think it provided a chance for a critical look at the places we ASEAN Hivers we live. Of course some countries have more freedom of criticism, especially the government, than others, and this without a doubt affects things from newspaper stories to even little blockchain challenges like this one. The 1st and 2nd place entries were more than worthy of sharing the 3rd prize, and I encourage you all to have a read.
1st Prize π 10% Beneficiary & 125 Ecency Points
by: @coloringiship
Very interesting. I could rant on and on about the things that are wrong with this country but let's focus on one glaring problem that has plagued the country post-pandemic: inflation. The prices of goods and services have gone up tremendously over the past few years. Everyone from the low-income group (B40) to the highest-income group (T20) can feel the pinch of the skyrocketing prices of goods. Maybe the richest group doesn't feel the pressure as much as the rest of us though π€·ββ.
2nd Prize π₯ 6% Beneficiary & 75 Ecency Points
by: @nnurdiani
Traffic jams, almost every morning and evening, I have to go through traffic jams. Moreover, I have to be stuck in traffic from where I live to the KRL station. Jakarta is one of the cities with quite a lot of public transportation. In fact, on some roads can be accessed 24 hours. One example is where I live. Salemba, public transportation such as the busway can be accessed 24 hours.
3rd Prize π₯ 4% Beneficiary & 50 Ecency Points
Β Β Β There were only two entries this week, well three I think, but @davidke20 didn't want to be included in any prizes, so I am splitting the 3rd prize rewards equally with @nnurdiani and @coloringiship, 2% post beneficiary each and 25 Ecency points each.

Undoubtedly it was a great choice, truly wonderful things are now made through the wonderful use of wood, and the example was much more fitting. Congratulations to this week's winner.
Here in our village there are many beautiful hardwood tables and chairs that the soldiers make from illegally harvested timber, beautiful but a little bit sad.
Spot on. Every Malaysian knew the top problem in this country is RACISM but no one dares to criticize it openly, hence I picked the second glaring issue currently faced by the country.
Thank you for the prize and congratulations too to @nnurdiani π
Haha, I would almost do the same for my own country, the USA. Racism is the biggest problem that nobody (but mostly white people) don't want to discuss. I always laugh because many of my white friends in the USA don't think there is racism because they've never been a victim of it π€¦ββοΈ
Hmmmm, another interesting theme. Let's see what I can find around me.
Let's go hunt for wood!!βΊοΈπ
Thank you @justinparke. I bet your brother-in-law made you a beautiful scythe.
I wish I had time to share all the lovely handmade handles we have. This week has been a hectic and I missed a few chances to post because of it. Thanks for stopping by.
That would be lovely to see Justin. Well, we have to prioritize first what's important.
You will have the time soon after your hectic and busy schedules.
Being busy is just what we love doing as long as they are productive and fruitful.
Have a great week ahead.
I love wood! I adore its texture and how it can be incorporated into countless designs.
Yes, I agree. There are many rare hardwood species here in our forest. They make beautiful furniture, but because they are endangered and overharvested, they are better left in the forest.
The sad part is that they thought they could simply replace it by planting a new tree. It will take many, many years for it to grow into a mature tree.
I'm not blaming the rich people, but they are the ones who mostly purchase furniture made of high-quality wood.
