Hello everyone,
There are various type of fruit in this world, but in your opinion, which fruit can be use as food that is suitable for sweet and savory? For me, banana are one of those things that can be use as a complementary food to anything. Even they tend to taste sweet, banana are a fruit that can be made savory with various spices. I dont know why is that?

For me, banana are a unique type of fruit, they taste so delicious and are easy to get anywhere. Banana are often use as dessert, but did you know that banana can be made into fritters that can be dipped in spicy sauce? I like fried banana dipped in spicy sauce, the taste is very complicated in my mouth.

But, most of the time, bananas are used as dessert, there are even bananas for breakfast in different forms. For example, in Thailand, there is mango sticky rice, in Indonesia, there is also something called Banana Sticky Rice. With a composition of sticky rice cooked in coconut milk, then added with grated coconut flakes and fried banana, Banana Sticky Rice is suitable for starting your day with a cup of bitter coffee.

Banana sticky rice is a dessert that can be enjoyed at breakfast, this is a quite unique tradition. Usually this type of food is really enjoyed by parents, because my father and mother really like this food. Easy to get, because many people sell it in the morning, one of the breakfast options you can enjoy when you're bored with just the same food.

This morning was quite unique for our family, usually I never prepare breakfast like this. However, my sister-in-law cooked sticky rice to give to her friends, quite a busy morning for the kitchen this time. My mother-in-law also bought bananas of the banana kepok type. I know quite a few types of bananas that can grow in Indonesia.

The Recipe


This is what is called banana kepok, the shape is different from cavendish, it is most suitable for frying with rice flour, it will taste crispy and feel very soft inside. Kepok bananas are quite easy to get in Indonesia, especially in rural areas, this is one type that is liked by many people.

There are probably lots of recipes for cooking sticky rice on various other social media, so I forgot to take a picture while cooking sticky rice. But the most correct way to cook sticky rice is to cook it with thick coconut milk with a little water, a ratio of 1:1.5. 1 for rice, and 1.5 for mixed water and coconut milk. Then cooked in a wokpan until the water reduces, then steamed for 20 minutes.

To make fried banana, here I use rice flour which have been dilute with a little water, make sure the water is not too much or too runny. Add a pinch of salt and sugar to make it taste better.

By heating cooking oil, deep frying is the most suitable. Then remove it when the banana has turned slightly yellow so it doesn't look too burnt. Fried bananas are best when the outside is very crispy. Don't forget to drain it so it doesn't get too oily.

Apart from frying bananas, you also have to grate old coconut. Make sure to take the inner part of the coconut so that it is white without the coconut husk mixed in. Put a little salt, if you want to steam it, then steam it so it lasts longer.
