Food Local Pride, Mie Gomak Recipe

tempImagetwrtre.gif

We must have local pride, a self-confidence to believe that we also have something to be proud of. Just like all regions have typical foods or typical places that can be visited. That's what makes a region attractive. 'Characteristics' are something to be proud of.

For example, my region has a food that I am proud of. In fact, I am in the same country and this food is not available anywhere even though it is in the same country. We call it 'Mie Gomak'. A kind of yellow noodle, the texture is not too chewy but very tasty like spaghetti.

Oh yes, we call it Batak spaghetti. If spaghetti comes from Italy, we also have a local version and I really hope that it goes global. Maybe this little writing will also be able to introduce the Batak spaghetti that we have. I hope my friends from all over the world can read it.

A little different from the variations of gomak noodles in general, this is one of my ways to make gomak noodles in a simple and easy way to cook when making breakfast for family members.

The ingredients are very easy to get, simple ingredients and also make it with spices full of love.

Ingredients

  • 1 large bowl of boiled gomak noodles.
  • 5 cloves of shallots, 5 cloves of garlic, cayenne pepper to taste, red chili to taste.
  • 1 spoon of shrimp paste and 5 grams of shrimp paste
  • Tomatoes
  • 1 egg
  • Spring onions and celery
  • Vegetables (I use cabagge or sweet mustard greens)
  • Soy sauce, salt, sugar and pepper
  • Vegetable oil

How to make Stir Fry Gomak Noodles:

  • I didn't have time to take a photo of boiling the gomak noodles, but it's very easy like boiling pasta. Add a little oil of course.

  • Puree the seasoning ingredients: shallots, garlic, red chilies, cayenne pepper, shrimp paste and shrimp paste. All ingredients are blended until smooth, even very smooth to get the umami taste of shrimp. You can smooth it with oil and a little extra water.

  • Remove 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil that will saute the spices on the wokpan, this stage must give off an aroma so that there is no strange smell in the stir-fry. Long enough for the oil to come out perfectly.

  • After the spices are sauteed, we start to add the ingredients little by little. The first is the thing that takes the longest to cook, here I put in cabbage because it is a little difficult to cook compared to other ingredients.

  • Add seasonings such as soy sauce, salt, sugar and pepper. Must be added at the beginning so that the spices absorb all the ingredients that are mixed. After that, for a more umami taste, I put in 1 egg (optional).

  • And the onions and celery that have been washed and sliced, are put into the wokpan before the gomak noodles go in, don't forget the tomatoes so that there is a sour taste in these gomak noodles.

  • Then the last is the gomak noodles which will be ready to be stirred with all the ingredients. Before finishing, check the taste and you can enjoy it!
