Lettuce in My Garden! Shrimp Salad Rice Paper, The Vietnamese Food That I Really Loved
Hello everyone,
I was very shocked when I bought some food at a supermarket in Vietnam, then found this food ingredient and bought it in very large quantities because the price was very cheap! I think you can guess what I bought. The clue is a food ingredient that is very famous in Vietnam and has become a signature of this country.
It's Rice Paper! You know, a food ingredient that is clear in color with a round and thin shape, a food ingredient that is very simple, but it has a good taste! In my opinion, rice paper makes everything easier in the kitchen, it is a favorite of all my family members.
I can easily make delicious food with rice paper, it is a food ingredient that can make everyone like vegetables in my house, especially my husband who is very picky about vegetables. So, buying lots of rice paper stock became a necessity when I was in Vietnam.
Buying a pack of rice paper costs 40,000vnd, which is equivalent to 2 USD, if I compare when I buy rice paper at the supermarket in my city, it reaches 5 USD and I can save almost 3 times as much.
One of the menus that I really like from rice paper is salad rolls, its means I only need a few ingredients that can be use as a filling, then make a delicious sauce as a dip. This is a fast and healthy way to get good nutrition to supplement the body's needs. I can add some animal protein by boiling it.
So, this time, I really want to share my experience in making a salad roll recipe that I usually make for lunch or dinner for my family, they really like this food, they say it really helps to reduce excess time in preparing food.
Of course, this time I also made it with hydroponic vegetables that I have at home, but unfortunately there is only lettuce at home, just harvest it and clean it with water, everything will be easy and keep it clean.
Ingredients:
- 150 gr shrimp
- Vermicelli
- The vegetables (lettuce, bean sprouts and carrots)
- Rice paper
- Salt and lime
- Water for boiling
How to Make Shrimp Salad Rice Paper:
- I harvest the lettuce and leave the ones that cannot be harvested in the hydroponic installation and I also clean all the vegetables that I will use.
- Boil water to be used as a soak for the vermicelli so that it can be served in rice paper, clean the bean sprouts and also soak the carrot pieces that will be used for the salad.
- Keep the remaining cooking water in the pan, then clean the shrimp to be used and add salt and lime. Then boil for 3 minutes and drain the remaining cooking water.
- Put water into a plate, to make the rice paper easy to shape and fold.
- Arrange the vegetables and shrimp in rice paper, then serve with sesame sauce to dip and eat at the same time.
See you the next time hive friends!
