pic#1000 A difficult decision (short story) [ENG/ESP]
Hello everyone, this is my first post for this challenge, which is to write a story or poem about what I think is happening in the image below.
Brothers Lucas (9 years old) and George (6 years old), after returning home from a toy store and buying what they thought were cute stuffed animals (with the money they had saved by doing some small household chores, a good incentive from their parents), happily began to play with the stuffies as a theater, what seemed to be a quiet afternoon at home would turn into a nightmare for the brothers.
The parents rang the doorbell, the brothers came down from the second floor and opened the door to greet their parents, but something was wrong, they did not seem happy as usual, they looked very worried.
After a few glances between them, they told the boys to sit on the couch, where they explained to them as best they could that they were unfortunately getting divorced. The only reason they gave was that they were tired of arguing with each other, something the brothers couldn't understand since they seemed happy when they were with them.
The boys thought it might be a cruel joke, but they quickly noticed in their parents' tired and determined eyes that they were telling the truth.
But that was not all, the father explained to them that they had to decide who to stay with, upon hearing this, the brothers immediately went up to the playroom, and there they did not cry, not a single tear. They sat on the wooden floor, and thought about how everything was going to change from now on. Lukas thought and thought and decided to stay with his mother. George, on the other hand, had better memories with his father. Neither of them knew yet that they were going to take different paths and that it would be the last weekend they would spend together for a long time.
They will never forget that summer day where they found out that their parents were not a happy couple. It was a Saturday afternoon, the birds were singing and the neighborhood children were laughing while playing.
