Anime Fest in Bangladesh

For the first time I went to a Anime Fest in Bangladesh, it was hosted in October 15, 2022. I had created great memories and I really wanted to share my experience with you guys.

My journey into Anime World

Anime was not much famous in Bangladesh before quarantine. During quarantine everyone started to explore anime and acknowledge it. I have been watching anime since I was 9 years old, anyone barely knew about anime. I used to draw anime characters and my friends would ask me why the nose is like a triangle shape. I was unable to make them understand haha. I loved cartoons and who doesn’t in their childhood so I was simply changing the channels then I found a channel named Animax I never understood what dialogue characters passed but I enjoyed watching I would guess and make up a story, because they had Japanese dub and no English sub. The first anime I had watched was Inuyasha I didn’t knew the name because it was all Japanese. Later on I had decided to do a research about it then I googled the channel name online then I started to watch animes. At first I used to watch them on YouTube because I didn’t have any other source or anyone to help me.
I don’t know if I am an otaku or not I just love anime a lot.

Anime Fest

Location was at Mirpur Road, Marriott Convention Center. On the second floor they had arranged the event. I went out with my cousins and my friend.
The fest started at 3pm when we reached the electricity was gone, Load shading is a common thing in Bangladesh, anyways before entering the hall we had to get a seal on hand for entry in order to leave and rejoin without any hassle. My cousins reached there early and purchased my ticket, per ticket costed 300 Taka.

First I met with 4 “Ken Kaneki” it’s a character from “Tokyo Ghoul” and it’s one of my favourite anime also I love their intro song “Unravel” and have memorised lyrics. I was surprised to see various types of “Ken Kaneki” at once. It was fun to see them and exciting!

This guy was full of humours made us laugh by his jokes, he was cosplaying the role of “L” from “Death Note”. Everyone knows Death Note I think most of the people who are beginners they start with Death Note. He was trying to take a selfie with cell-phone which had no camera, he was kinda cool guy type.

My cousin Azmain was playing with the toy gun which he had taken from the previous guy cosplaying “L”.and tried to bully me with it, later on I grabbed it and pointed at him. We had soo much fun together after a long time.

Next a giant Wargreymon, from Digimon Adventure. It’s the strongest dragon warrior. It looked soo real the guy who had cosplayed was working really hard he was unable to see anything clearly his friend was guiding him the way. I was feeling shy so I didn’t take many pictures of mine with any further characters.

Another character is Kazutora Hanemiya, from “Tokyo Revengers”. I didn’t watch this anime yet, but it’s on my watch list so, I will soon. I asked my friend to stand and have a picture and I was clicking their photos.

These are well known characters from “Demon Slayer”. Demon slayer is my favourite too, I love the siblings love & affection they have between Tanjiro and Nezuko. I didn’t see anyone cosplaying Nezuko around. I have already read the manga and it’s soo good expect the lengthy fights they have made in the anime.

The last photo I took of this girl and she was soo stunning I asked if I could take a single photo of her and she was soo sweet and agreed. She has cosplayed the character “Tomie Kawamaki”, from “Junji Ito”. I have heard the manga is horrifying and very dark. Anyways this girl has perfectly done the cosplay. The make up on her face must have taken hours to make.

Stage Performance

There was a big stage for performance and sining concert started. Saw two guys sining, their voice was good. I also want to learn to play guitar very soon. They had singed 3-4 songs. After that one by one cosplayers came and represented themselves themselves. After that the were called upon the stage together for a group photo.

For a moment I thought that the stage was gonna fall off because it was not a huge one. All the characters looked soo good together, everyone was clapping and enjoying themselves on the stage.

I got recognised??

After few minutes I saw a guy staring at me for a long time, I was confused. Then he approached me and started to say “You are Haya?” I was like instantly saying “No, I am not” because I wanted to have a alone time over here, needed some space. I was kinda shocked because he had recognised me only through my eyes and mask. Then he said he’s my biggest fan wants to take a selfie and gifted me a small sized figure. It was a proud moment for me because I got recognised in this crowded place.

Food time

I was hungry and it was almost 7 pm we had to leave, before that there was a stall they were selling Japanese food items. He had tried fried sushi, it was my first time having sushi. It was tasty then I had expected. I couldn’t guess what was there ingredients because never tasted anything like this before.

Overall we had fun, very well organised fest it was. I would suggest if you have any anime fest in your area you must join because it’s really fun to try! Pardon my mistakes, you may share your thoughts with me.
