Yo había propuesto el tema para el concurso del programa Días Ecencyales, a pesar de que el género de terror no es uno de mis géneros favoritos y no se me da bien. Quise participar porque me lo planteé como un reto. Pero pensé que hay diversos tipos de amores que pueden ser aterradores, en esos días estaba de furor el tema de la película Barbie y su mundo rosa e imaginé una historia de un amor aterrador en ese contexto, una fanático enamorado que termina secuestrando a una barbie de carne y hueso. Mi relato fue un estruendoso fracaso, a pesar de que pensé que había construido una buena historia, hice un diseño especial para el post, completamente rosa, configuré una parodia del mundo barbie que fuese aterrador, pero sólo obtuve muy pocos votos y pocas recompensas. Tengo tres décadas desempeñándome como docente en el área del lenguaje y la literatura y quise compartir con mis lectores en Hive mis conocimientos sobre escritura narrativa. En este caso no fue un post, fue una serie de post a los que les dediqué mucho tiempo y esfuerzo, planifiqué varios post sobre los aspectos más importantes de la escritura narrativa, los personajes, la configuración del contexto, la voz narrativa, entre otros; para cada post grabé un video, escribí un texto. Hice post en distintas comunidades, pensando que la falta de lectores y recompensas tenía que ver con haber posteado en una comunidad equivocada. Pero no obtuve en los diversos post de la serie ni votos ni recompensas en la mayoría de los casos. Fue muy decepcionante querer aportar una información de valor, hacer mi mejor esfuerzo y no encontrar una respuesta entre los lectores de Hive. Sentí una frustración enorme.

Challenge My Year with HIVE
My dear Hivers, to recount "My year with Hive" is to recount enriching and rewarding moments. Since I started to be active on our platform in March 2022, there are many things I have learned as a content creator, but also as a reader of other hIvers' content, and also through the curatorships and other conversations in the discord, such as the program "Ecencyal Days" or "Talent Night" and I still have a lot to learn.
Hive offers us in a single platform what we find separately in Web2 social networks: blog, video, images, chat conversation, microblogging. A wide universe of advantages that I am still discovering. Something very beautiful that I have discovered this year is that Hive gives you the opportunity to create value, to be an inspiration to other people and to be inspired by other people.

communities
Something very important that our platform offers us is that in Hive you are never alone. When we write in our blog we always do it in a community and in a community that is made up of like-minded people, that is, people who have the same interests as you. Therefore, you can enrich yourself with what you read and enrich others who read you, who have the same interests or talents.
In my case, as a writer and literature teacher and lover of the arts in general, my contribution has focused mainly on writing literary texts or about art. Although I also have an active life in communities such as Holos & Lotus, as my physical, mental and emotional health has become a priority in recent years. Or in Weekend experiences, because its moderator
@galenkp proposes very interesting topics for reflection every week.
On the other hand, those who moderate the communities frequently offer you contests and initiatives to motivate you to stay active on the platform. I congratulate the
@freewritershouse community that every week offers more than one initiative for those of us who are focused on literary writing.
Meetings outside the platform
Since I joined Hive in March 2022, until mid 2023, I had not had the chance to participate in events outside the platform, in which those texts read or those photos I had seen had a face, a tone of voice, in the world outside the platform. It was really exciting this year to be able to see, hear, embrace some of the hivers who live in my city, Caracas, or in nearby cities like Maracay or Valencia. I want to tell you briefly about these events and the people I had the pleasure to meet.

The first meeting with Venezuelan hivers was an event I helped coordinate with

@enmymente in May 2023, at the Kalathos bookstore, located in the Centro Cultural de Arte Los Galpones, one of the most pleasant cultural spaces in Caracas. I had previously met with Enmy to plan the event at the Sambil Mall. They talked with the audience about Hive, about our platform. I only made contact with the manager of the bookstore, José Gutiérrez, whom I have known for several years, since I have participated in several literary events there, and I introduced them to the public present.
Through Enmy and Daniel I came to Hive, they gave me information, supported me to make my presentation and enter the platform. Then we met again in two other events that took place at Caracas this year. But it is difficult to describe the emotion I felt in that first meeting with them. I really admire the work they are doing in various public spaces, especially in Venezuelan schools.
This has been a very active year for Venezuelan hivers. I take this opportunity to congratulate the hivers community in my country, because those good events outside the platform, well planned, organized with so much effort and love help to grow and enrich our platform. It was an extraordinary event, with a great attendance. Those of us who attended were able to enjoy an excellent program of talks, meditations, dance, live music. A variety of activities for the well-being of body, mind and soul. A very rewarding day, which confirmed Hive as a platform to create positive values, a platform for personal growth to which I am proud to belong.

Although the Caracas Blockchain is not strictly speaking an event organized by hivers, the Venezuelan hivers community had a leading role there. It was really exciting to see on stage the hivers

My year on the platform
When you start writing in Hive at first it is difficult to understand the dynamics of votes and rewards. Sometimes the amount of votes received does not coincide with a high amount of rewards, that is, a post can be valued by a high amount of people, but if they have little voting power, or give you a low percentage to value your text, the amount of rewards obtained can be low. In the same way, a post can have few votes, few likes, but if you receive a vote from a whale you can get a good reward. In some moments both things coincide, a post with more than a hundred votes, has also a good reward.
On the other hand, it is important to share valuable content and to do it in a community where that content can be appreciated. I am going to share with you a list of my most voted posts and another one of my most rewarded posts. This year I have had some pleasant surprises in Hive. One that gave me the greatest satisfaction was to find that my most voted post was a narrative text, my story "La Doña" written for a
@hispaliterario contest. For about thirty years I have written poetry, I have published some books of poems, I have participated in poetry events, but narrative is a new genre for me, which I started writing for Hive! Encouraged by the platform's contests.
So too, my most rewarding post, which I wrote ṕara the
@holos-lotus community was dedicated to agenda planning and the importance of scheduling self-care. Paradoxically, in one of my December post for the same community, I wrote a post about a health mishap I had because of neglecting self-care in my schedule.
Another surprise was to find among my most rewarding posts, the one I dedicated to the birth of Simon Bolivar, the great Venezuelan national hero. I have always liked history and in my post I wanted to highlight the importance of Bolivar as a statesman, and not only as a military hero. But, honestly, I did not think it would be a valued post on Hive. Another pleasant surprise was to find among my most rewarded posts the one I dedicated to Rainer Maria Rilke's "Letters to a young poet", poetry is usually not a topic for which you get good rewards on the platform.

I am very happy to share with you my best achievements on the platform during 2023. But this post would be incomplete if I didn't share with you the other side of the coin. Sometimes we put love to some publications, but unfortunately they are not valued on the platform, they get very few votes or rewards. That is also part of the experiences we can have when we post our content on hive. I will share two examples.
The "Terrifying Loves" contest
I had proposed the theme for the Ecency Days contest, even though the horror genre is not one of my favorite genres and I'm not good at it. I wanted to participate because I thought of it as a challenge. But I thought that there are different types of love that can be terrifying, in those days the theme of the movie Barbie and her pink world was all the rage and I imagined a story of a terrifying love in that context, a fanatic in love who ends up kidnapping a flesh and blood bimbo. My story was a resounding failure, even though I thought I had built a good story, I made a special design for the post, completely pink, I set up a parody of the barbie world that was terrifying, but I only got very few votes and few rewards. The story workshop
I have three decades as a teacher in the area of language and literature and I wanted to share with my readers in Hive my knowledge about narrative writing. In this case it was not a post, it was a series of posts to which I dedicated a lot of time and effort, I planned several posts about the most important aspects of narrative writing, characters, context setting, narrative voice, among others; for each post I recorded a video, wrote a text. I posted in different communities, thinking that the lack of readers and rewards had to do with having posted in the wrong community. But I got neither votes nor rewards in the various posts of the series in most cases. It was very disappointing to want to contribute valuable information, to do my best and not find a response among Hive readers. I felt a huge frustration.

Hive nos ha dado la oportunidad de crecer y explorar, así como de experimentar. En lo particular, también he sentido la frustración de esforzarme mucho creando contenido que pienso que es de gran valor, y tener poca recepción. A veces pienso que lo hago mal, a veces pienso que no se valora. Pero también he descubierto que el esfuerzo constante te ayuda a crecer y ser disciplinado, más allá de las recompensas.
