Gratitude for 2023... honing new skills. Loh #167.
Gratitude is the attribute of being thankful. It is a very important virtue that helps one when imbibed. Gratitude is a reflection of our heart posture as it reveals the intents of our hearts to those around.
The economy in my country was extra tough in 2023. There was a sharp increase in fuel price which affected prices of food, transportation, drugs and other necessities but God faithfully shielded me and my family through it all.
I know of families that could hardly feed two square meals last year. I also know some families who ran from pillar to post seeking solutions to unending health challenges but with the harsh economic conditions and the insecurities prevalent in my country, God saw I and my family through. We will crossed over to a new calendar year unscathed and in top-notch health.
I have come to realize through experience that cultivating the art of gratitude opens doors for good things to come our way. It is a true saying that when one is thankful, one will have a tank full.
A grateful person will never be a great fool
Gratitude always determines one's altitude in life. It's no news that no one likes ungrateful people. I know that I surely do not and when I notice that one is ungrateful, the tendency to assist them gets reduced.
I am grateful for the year 2023 because with all it's challenges and obstacles, I still experienced tremendous blessings. The first one is getting to know about this platform and commence this journey of becoming a content creator.
I never knew I had it in me to come up with stories or even weave my thoughts into writings that others can read and comprehend. I am so grateful every time that I see my posts receive some attention either through upvotes, comments and reblogs on this platform, really really grateful. Though I'm not perfect yet in my contents but I will get there as I keep learning.
The other thing I am grateful for in 2023 is concerning the relationships that I have formed here on the platform. I will not be tagging names because I can't really put all the names in this post but I'm truly grateful to everyone that has helped my hive journey so far on the block chain and my sincere desire is that the bonds we have formed will last forever.
I'm also grateful for the experiences that helped shaped my thoughts and matured me in 2023. I learnt a lot and grew in knowledge last year.
I'm also grateful for my small family. I live with my daughter and young siblings. As the eldest child, I'm responsible for taking care of them physically, financially, educationally and even mentally. Sometimes I don't meet up to their expectations but nevertheless, they stay by me. They support me and assist me with my busy schedules. Doing what I do for them brings me immense joy and happiness that despite my tired state of the day, I will still choose to get up the next morning and go to work to earn.
What skills do I have and want to put into practice this year
It's no secret that I am an educator. It's a skill I have honest over time and I am passionate about. I am already using this skill to earn regular income but if I was to venture into honing a new skill, then that would be fashion designing. I have a flare for clothes. Just thinking about creating my own outfits causes butterflies in my belly. My skills and knowledge are little right now but I'll work on honing this skill by enrolling as an apprentice in a fashion school.

You recall – "In one phrase, she's a tender hearted lover of people.."
Well I knew her younger sister, Edith first— a very well behaved bubbly lady and has this ability to make you laugh. She's so good with jokes.
Then one day I met this other one, her name Betty. Nothing wrong with Edith, but in Betty I noticed an even more tender person than Edith. This one had the emotional maturity of a mother.
Well you said "preaching a good gospel..", in your note where this discourse started. Those words remind me of Church. Well, we were all Church members, Betty joining years are Edith joined. Betty became my assistant, as I was the youth president. I was into singing a lot and Edith was the singer of the two, so naturally we were close, but quite frankly Betty stole my heart. There's just this warmness about her that Edith didn't just have. So Edith and fam knew that Betty and I clicked.
Furthermore, it's not just about me, Betty loved people! She wasn't the type to be proud to condescend to people of low estate. She loved all and was ready to sacrifice whatever it takes to help all. With time I got to meet her circle of friends, usually people older than her– I'm older than her too.
Betty is married now and we don't talk much because truly I'm poor with calls, but till today when we speak(when she calls), we relate as total siblings. When she comes to her late Dads place to visit(now as a married woman) we can gist and play(with her lil boys) and her mum will be so delighted to see me.
Now the second bird is appreciating your post here, I just came to your "inbox" to drop this, not knowing in your "inbox", I will behold you very zoomically.🙂 I don't get to see people properly through their dp on Hive, maybe it's because I use a phone.
So this your blog is the first time I'm seeing you properly. It's my Betty's eye and shape of face you have, your smile brighter than hers though. She is a very lean person, though adding some flesh these days. I see you are the eldest in your family, exactly what Betty is too. Interesting.
How has this my note become so long. Maybe I should make a post on Betty. So Betty(you now), my pleasure again meeting you, thank God for a new year and His grace on you in what I read in this blog. Keep helping your family as you do, I trust God for your very best in Jesus' name.
