When starting out it might make sense to open packs, or when you want to get from one league level to the next. Besides that, it's cheaper to just buy the cards right now, especially in Chaos Legion. That pack of yours sure was a very lucky winner, congratulations! Both epics are quite useful, as well as the Scavo. But in general, your expectations would be right - 4 commons and one rare :-D

Of course buying Cards is way cheaper.
I am very sure most Packs are way to frustrating.
And i am not sure weather these openings will help the game.

Could be, but I think that Chaos Legion would be great for a baseline-set that won't rotate out of Modern. It's ideal to start out with since it's the cheapest set, and at least in Bronze League you can have a lot of fun with only Chaos and the Rebellion Soulbound, without spending too much money. To really compete, one would need the Rebellion Set since a lot of great cards are in there. I'm thinking up a proposal and will post that hopefully next week and see what people think and where the flaws in my thinking are :-D
