"Emira" by Sergio Luis Matínez Picornelli (Soloist Version) - VIBES Week 1

It's great to see the enthusiasm for such a competition as Vibes. Hopefully, it will bring a lot of talent all the way into #web3 and Hive. For this first week, I had been working on something. This platform is going to be the place to show something interesting.

We have this festival in the country called "La Siembra del Cuatro". It is related to our national instrument, Cuatro Venezolano. And this year, this festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary. So, I decided to take part since I've been studying this instrument for some time now. Wish me luck on the first round.

Speaking of which, the theme of this year's festival is the Waltz as a genre that unites the Latin America. So, each participant needs to record a waltz and send a video to the organizing committee. Think of this as try outs for the festival. The song I'm playing was suggested by my teacher since it's a Venezuelan Waltz that is rarely played anymore. I didn't even know the song and the only recording I found was this:

So, my soloist version of this song is based on this recording by Ensamble Kariña. As you can see, the waltz's name is Emira. It was composed by Sergio Luis Matínez Picornelli. It's beautiful song; but its melody and harmony are a challenge to play in soloist style. Putting together a version that works and still maintains some aspects of the original is quite a challenge. I bet that plus the fact that's an obscure piece might give me some points from the judge at La Siembra. But before going around the recording for that other video, I wanted to show my work around here.
