Hello, amazing ladies of Hive!

It has been so long since I joined any contest and I want to be part of this one because I get to share my routine. Well, this works for me, and if you can use it as well, great! The last time I joined the contest I was part of the winners and that was very encouraging, that was my entry for contest #137.

To be honest these days, life sometimes feels like one big circus. Between my Customer service job, family responsibilities, friends, and other remote jobs I do, staying healthy often feels like an impossible task. But I have found out with time that it doesn’t necessarily have to be impossible. Eventually, after many trials and errors, I have been able to gather a bit of this, and that which helps me feel good and better about my health every day.

Sneaky Movement Is My Jam

If you have worked in customer service you would understand how much sitting we have to do. And with how comfortable my office is I get carried away and stay at my desk all day. But then lately I have begun to have back pains that struck a cord and I was like “Geez I am too young for this”! I had to get up more, and I found myself sneaking as much movement as I could into my daily routine at work.

Getting up to take calls, a twenty-minute lunch break walks around the block. Stretching anytime I am in the restroom or waiting in a queue for coffee. Every new movement counts. They have helped me reduce my sedentary lifestyle and regain my youth. I put multiple reminders in my phone as well and also include it on my daily to-do list so I don’t forget.

Meal Prep: My Not-So-Secret Weapon

Meal prep works for me as well. When I was still at the University I was really skinny, I barely ate well and my health suffered as well as my focus. I was always eating whatever I found on the go and they weren’t particularly healthy choices. So after school, I decided I was not going to make the same mistakes anymore. I decided I was going to make healthier choices and hallelujah that has worked and I have been very consistent with it.

I get paid monthly and every month there's a budget for meals, I calculate every single item I need to stay healthy food-wise. I buy them and store them. For cooked meals, I cook and store them in my fridge or freezer. Whatever extra item I need to get like fruits and vegetables that can't be stored for long, I keep extra funds for them. This way I don’t have to worry about what to eat, whether they are healthy or how available they are and it has worked for me.

Hydration Is My MVP
WATER is my best bud! As someone who battled ulcers and constipation on and off during my Uni days, I can't stress this habit enough. I have a really large jug of water by my desk that stays with me all day. It’s a challenge I set for myself to keep my digestive system moving as frequently as possible. It keeps me very hydrated and bonus? my skin loves it as well.

Ultimate Reset Button
Good sleep has become a battle for me as an adult. As someone easily overstimulated by handling tech all day it takes a while for me to zone out. That urge to watch that cute cat video at 11 pm is overwhelming. So to fight the urge I started a bedtime routine. Dim lights, no phones, and my supplement Magnesium glycinate, and in a couple of minutes I am gone.

The Art of Not Sweating the Small Stuff

As someone still trying to figure out my mid-twenties sometimes I tend to overthink. I wonder if I am doing the right thing if I am putting in enough effort, or actually in the right stage of life. It gets worse when I see a Facebook post of a college friend getting married or celebrating the 3rd year birthday of their twin girls. Then I start to spiral and wonder if I am ok. (Lets out a big sigh)

Well, these days I try not to dwell on the lives of others and just be grateful for mine. While I may not be where I want to be I am certain very soon I will be and strive to put in more effort to become a better person in my relationships as well as in my career. I will be choosing progress over perfection. So I try not to sweat out the small stuff as well as the big ones. I choose to be grateful for where I am and keep moving.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed pouring myself into this post. Until next time, Bye Ladies.

Eating well, drinking water, sleeping and deciding not to think too much about other people's lives and being grateful for where you are, even with a busy schedule, is very valuable, as you say, it helps to keep moving forward,

nice habits despite the busy sched. It's stressful being swamped with tasks and priorities, yet, you still spend some time to take a breather in different ways.
