What I do - LOH #216
1️⃣ Everyone has a hobby or passion for something and this is part of their personality, even though some of us have common tastes. What is the topic you could spend hours talking about if you had the opportunity?

2️⃣ If you had the opportunity to have any talent but with the condition of not receiving any kind of reward for it, what talent would it be?
Image is mine
Before now, I used to always scream “God when,” anytime I see people display incredible talents in the likes of singing, dancing, crafts etc. Before now, I used to question myself, "when God was giving people talent where were you?" Over the years I have grown, I have learned, unlearned and relearn. I had discovered, undiscovered and rediscovered myself.
You see, both prompts above for this week's ladies of hive are interwoven, one precedes the other.
Recently, someone informed me that no one is useless and no one is without talent. He went further to tell me that if I feel that I do not possess any talent, it is because I haven't taken time to explore and discover myself. For a long time, I have had a series of experiences in all ramifications of life. Some of these experiences are personal while some are other people's I was opportuned to witness. Fact remains that in all, at every given life situation, I have always known what to do.
I am meeting someone for the first time and I can already tell their intentions and know the outcome of whatever it is that we are going to have. This is one gift, I don't know if to call it a talent but it has helped me for a long time.
As time progresses and I advance, I get to meet more people who somehow get drawn to me to share their problems and experiences, trusting that I could help with a solution at least. Before I knew it, I found myself being a therapist to people and always being some sort of motivation at their lowest. Every now and then my friends would talk to me about people's problems and then ask if they could share my contact with them and if I could be of help? Without thinking twice, I always oblige.
Honestly I love what I do, I love giving of myself to people, holding their hands and leading them out of their dark nights. Sometimes, I feel like I go through the dark side of life and overcome them just so I can be in a better position to assist others pull through, because basically you can't give what you don't have right? And experience they say is the best teacher.
Again another person once said to me, “you know that you can make a fortune by being a therapist right? Especially on relationship issues.
You can actually monetize what you do and people will pay because you are good.”
The thing is, never a day has it crossed my mind to exchange money for a gift of service because somehow, I know that life always has a reward pattern in all that we do. I love to share in people's worries, I love to be by their side at their lowest and speak life into a hopeless situation. While I thought that oh well, I do not have enough talent to be good at anything, I have a voice and I recently discovered that I have the talent to do anything that I set my heart to.
In my journey as a motivator, I have come to realise that most human problems, if not all, start from the home. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule but then, however an adult turns out has a lot to do with the cradle and the environment that they are coming from.
If there is one thing that I can talk about non-stop without even consulting any book, it is relationship issues, matters and affairs.
Last weekend while I was in PH, I was talking to this genZ babe on how to get the best from any relationship and from life in general.
We talked about work, career and life then we entered relationship. Before I went further into the relationship talk, I told her that in order to not be used by anybody, she should first know what she wants from life because in knowing what she wants from life, she is then exposed to what she needs to accomplish that which she wants.
I likened it to a relationship, I said to her knowing what you want from a relationship will save you from unnecessary heartbreak.
I recently discovered that wants validate needs, because if our needs are not being met we really can't achieve our wants. This principle also works in relationships because if our emotional needs aren't meant, we can't achieve what we want from the relationship which is companionship
I was going to speak further when the guy with us exclaimed, “ah! You've gone really far in this relationship business because really, not everyone knows what they want and that's where the problem starts.”
Next thing, he started urging me to write a book and he wouldn't stop hammering on it. We continued to talk at length on relationships and how it affects life. Experiences of people in abusive relationships were shared and when I liked their tolerance to abuse, to them not receiving enough love at home or growing in a conducive and abuse free environment, both the guy and girl I was with were surprised how I knew because that was exactly the case.
In the end, I was asked, “can we please give them your contact so that you can speak with them and help them with their situation?”
I was excited because I mean, why not? It is what I love doing and monetary value or not it's my passion, it's my talent and it's my hobby.

I think it's good that there are people with the talent to help others move forward, listen and encourage from other perspectives.

Sure you could be an amazing therapist, you have a great talent!😍
:)
People tend to confide in me, too. I seem to have a sixth sense when someone is in trouble. Otherwise, I'm really not a sociable person. But, if you're in trouble, my antennae go up.
It's great that you have such a talent as a therapist, helping so many people is invaluable, thank you for sharing your experiences,
