Lessions learned in 2023 - HiveGhana weekly engagement WK-28
This is my entry to the HiveGhana weekly engagement wk-28. For those that are interested in joining can check here. Today I want to talk about my 2023 and the lessons I learned along side with what I wish to do differently in 2024 (The new year).
Over the past months, what lessons have you learnt from life and what do you wish you had done differently this year?
My 2023 started right from running an internship program popularly known as NYSC which every graduates being in Nigeria is expected of (Not compulsory). Having to relocate to an unfamiliar state was new to me as I had to start all over again in terms of making new friends and living to adjust with the new environment. One of the difficulties I had was that of unexpected calling from NYSC. I got rejected while applying for this program twice and I'd already terminated the idea of ever wanting to go for this program again. I was in the middle of traveling out of Nigeria to a neighboring country for my business execution when I got an email from NYSC Official that I am expected to be at camp in 7 days time.
One of the mistakes I made was the inability to balance different situations at once. I didn't seem to know how best to go about this information as I needed the both but this one was more prioritized by me since I wanted to do it once and for all. I terminated my business trip for this camping. It was later on I was told I could actually ghost it and still get the certificate. (I believe that successful people buy their way out sometimes which I could have done and get to go for the most profitable) If I had asked questions and made inquiries I probably would have gotten the information on time. (Many people will not want to involve in such shitty thing but I believe if I had gotten the information I probably would have ghosted this program and still come out with my certificate, no offense haha) It took me an entire year and at the other hand putting my business into suspension.
It was way later I learned I could have actually work it out. I have been done with the program for about a month plus now and have made plants (even from the very day of starting this internship) on how best to go about the suspended business trip. My plans are to make an execution by January starting the new year big by God's grace of course. The thing that I wish I have known is the ability to be able to balance two or more things at once while making a profit out of both (not to terminate one for another except it is an emergency). What I will change in this new year (2024) is that of being more strategic with my decisions and ask more questions for more knowledge.

Many people get to learn the lessons of their lives after school while some learn in school, at least you got to learn something this year.

You are very much welcome
This is an interesting lesson right there and I know it will always be sad to think of the things you missed when you choose NYSC ahead of the business you needed to execute.
However, NYSC is done and dusted. Congratulations on getting that done.
2024 will be a more strategic one.
Yea yea. Thanks Alot @kenechukwu97 . I can say now I'm finally done with NYSC and not have to think about it again. I guess it is what it is haha.
