Expired cheese

Paying attention to the Christmas delicacies, in a little corner of the fridge I found a piece of firm cheddar cheese with visibly damaged parts, specifically with mold, with a change of color, smell and of course taste, characteristics that indicate that the cheese is expired, it is better not to consume it. I think it was an oversight, if I had seen it I would have served it with a slice of bread.

I feel sorry, because a cheddar cheese loving uncle visited me and I could not offer him a snack, I told him what had happened to me with the cheese that now rests in the trash.

But all is not lost, today I went to buy cheddar cheese again 🧀 to savor it in a recipe for lunch.

ESPAÑOL

Queso vencido

Hi,

Most of the time the mold is only on the surface, so you can remove the parts that are molded. At least that's what I'm doing with a piece of Gouda or Goat cheese.

Maybe it's worth trying the next time 🙂

Lovely story. I find molded items tucked away frequently that have been pushed to the back of the fridge. Only after they start to smell do I clean out the area. To my surprise, I find items I'd long forgotten.

I was happy to hear you purchased another cheese to enjoy. Make sure you have the items you want to keep in the front so you won't forget. The prices of items these days, we can't afford to throw away food.

Thanks for sharing your story. Take care and have a good weekend.

Oh no! - a piece of perfectly good cheddar cheese, spoiled and unable to be served to your guest.
I would have loved to have some with you too, but thanks for getting a new one.
Am coming over soon for a piece.

The cheese resting in the trash must be a painful episode to the cheese loving uncle

Painful for the guy and for the pocket because cheese is expensive. Blessings @pearlie123.
