Not my place of interest. Hive naija #36.
Hello hivians, hope you all are doing good?
There are many places of interest that one might wish to vist when opportunity gives way and this might be hinged on several factors like beautiful scenery, serenity within the environs of that location, the tasty foods or even the hospitality of the people in the location etc. No matter what the reason is, all factors point to one thing and that is the fact that humans love beauty.
Just like there are places of interest, so also there are places that repel one from visiting. The factors that are responsible vrange from terrorism, riots, turmoil, bandit attacks, attacks from unknown gun men, kidnapping, threats to safety and the likes...this is to mention but a few. Such places that are characterised wirh these incidents are not attractive to me at all.
The one location that I would not be interested in visiting, even if it were to be a sponsored trip and an all expenses paid for trip, that place for me would be in the Northern part of Nigeria, Borno state to be precise.
This choice came about from deep reflections on the happenings and occurrences in that state. Should I begin with the kidnapping of school children, innocent children taken away from their comfort zone to an unknown hazardous location. Just trying to imagine the ordeal of those kidnapped children, sends chills down my spine.
The kidnapping incident is just a tip of the iceberg. Should I go ahead to talk about the suicide bombings that occur regularly, that its becoming frightening to the ears. I don't think I would want to compromise my safety for any reason by visiting such a location.
The tales and news headlines on the television and internet is scary enough to keep me firmly rooted at my base here in the West, without venturing amiss. Sometimes I wonder how the indigenes residing there cope with the toxic occurrences of that location.
The increase attacks on locals by bandits, extremists and unknown gun men is disheartening. Some are afraid to even move freely because you never know where the next attack might take place. Its certain that even at night time, there is an unrest. People sleeping with one eye open, ready to run at the slightest sound of chaos or a riot.
Places that my safety cannot be guaranteed is a no for me. What's the essence of visiting a location and then having to hide under rocks, tables or beds because of insecurity...this does not bode well with me
Its saddening that this is happening in my very own country and I greatly desire to see things remedied via a lasting solution but till then, I would not visit that location at all.
Thank you all for reading.
You are absolutely right @brighto15g. The human person loves beautiful, and he detest things that lakes beatify. By implication people only visit beautiful places. All of those factors you mentioned, kidnapping, war, terrorism and so many others strip places of their beauty.
@ernesto6402 Safety is of paramount. Thanks for engaging
Absolutely my friend
Se ve apocalíptico saludos
Various places are liked by various people of their choices and interest, so it depends on their thoughts and fondness.
That is very true
Hmm, you really hit the nail on the head there. That part of the north is boiling hot and It makes me wonder how the indigenes cope with the news up close.
Just like you said, my safety is my top priority. I won't compromise it for anything.
