Contest #230/ Generation to Generation, Candy Candy (En/ Es)

When I was a kid, I had several shows that I loved, but there was one in particular and that was the anime Candy Candy Candy. It was my childhood “soap opera”, ha, ha, ha, ha. Every day, after I came home from school in the morning, in the afternoon there would be cartoons and family shows that made my afternoon an entertaining routine; after doing my homework, they became my special time of the day. I remember that I would sit in front of the TV, watching my “happy afternoons” as I call it, watching all those programs that I loved, but the star moment was when Candy Candy started.

Every day, at that time, they would show 1 new episode and sometimes they would show up to 2. What I loved about this cartoon series, was that it told the life of an orphan girl and everything she was living until she became a young adult and each stage she “lived” I was living it with her, because I was happy when she was doing well or when she made some mischief I laughed a lot, but I also cried when she felt sad or they made her some mischief; one of the things I liked the most was the romanticism that was handled, with that first love of Candy with Anthony. I imagined being her in the arms of the “Prince of the Hill” that Candy thought was Anthony, ha, ha, ha, ha.

And when Anthony died, I screamed with Candy ha, ha, ha, ha. It was terrible for me, because I got into the plot of the series as if I was living it next to the main character. That's why this cartoon marked my childhood, because I never forgot it. When I had my first daughter, as soon as she was old enough to understand the plot, I bought her the whole series at that time in VHS and she, just like me, got hooked with this anime, she laughed and cried just like me; in many chapters I sat down to watch it with her, so it was like reliving those days accompanied by delicious snacks and Candy, with the difference that this time I watched it with my daughter.

Then when my second daughter was born, almost 10 years later, the pattern was repeated with the difference that this time we were two that accompanied her to see those chapters, but this time in a collection CD that my older daughter acquired and kept and treasured and the same thing happened to my younger daughter, the same thing that happened to us with this anime, only this time I had company, because we were 2 more excited watching her enjoying the anime that marked our childhood. So, yes, this TV show has influenced my future, because we have enjoyed it from generation to generation, because it started with me, who today I am 52, continued with my oldest daughter who is now 30 and ended for now with the one who is 17; therefore, it has remained in time in my family, greater testimony than this, I do not have.

Cuando era niña, tenía varios programas que me encantaban, pero había uno en especial y era el anime Candy Candy. Era mi "novela" infantil, ja, ja, ja. Cada día, luego de llegar de clases de la mañana, en la tarde pasaban unas comiquitas y programas familiares que hacían de mi tarde, una rutina entretenida; luego de hacer mis tareas, se convertían en mi momento especial del día. Recuerdo que me acomodaba frente al televisor, a ver mis "tardes felices" como le digo yo, a ver todos esos programas que me encantaban, pero el momento estelar era cuando comenzaba Candy Candy.

Cada día, en aquel tiempo, pasaban 1 capítulo nuevo y en ocasiones pasaban hasta 2. Lo que me encantaba de esta serie de comiquitas, era que, relataba la vida de una niña huérfana y todo lo que fue viviendo hasta ser ya una joven adulta y cada etapa que ella "vivía" yo la iba viviendo con ella, porque me alegraba cuando a ella le iba bien o cuando hacia alguna travesura me reía una barbaridad, pero también lloraba cuando ella se sentía triste o le hacían alguna trastada; una de las cosas que más me gustaba era el romanticismo que se manejaba, con ese primer amor de Candy con Anthony. Yo me imaginaba ser ella en brazos del "Príncipe de la Colina" que Candy pensaba era Anthony, ja, ja, ja.

Y cuando murió Anthony, yo grité con Candy ja, ja, ja. Fue terrible para mí, porque me metía en la trama de la serie como si la estuviera viviendo al lado de la protagonista. Por ello, esta comiquita marcó mi infancia, pues nunca la olvidé. Cuando tuve a mi primera hija, en cuanto tuvo edad para poder entender una trama le compre toda la serie en aquel tiempo en VHS y ella al igual que yo se enganchó con este anime, rio y lloro igual que yo; en muchos capítulos me senté a verla junto a ella, entonces era como revivir aquellos días acompañados de ricas meriendas y Candy, con la diferencia de que esta vez la veía con mi hija.

Luego cuando nació mi segunda hija, casi 10 años después, se repitió el patrón con la diferencia de que esta vez éramos dos que la acompañamos a ver, aquellos capítulos, pero esta vez en CD de colección que mi hija mayor adquirió y guardo y que atesoraba e igual le paso a mi hija menor, lo mismo que a nosotras con este anime, solo que en esta oportunidad tenía compañía, porque éramos 2 más emocionadas viéndola a ella disfrutando del anime que nos marcó la infancia. Así, que si, este programa de TV si ha influido en mi futuro, porque lo hemos disfrutado de generación en generación, porque empezó conmigo, que hoy día tengo 52, siguió con mi hija mayor que ya tiene 30 y termino por ahora con la que tiene 17; por lo tanto, ha permanecido en el tiempo en mi familia, mayor testimonio que este, no tengo.
