Así colaboro con mis hijos en la enseñanza de la lectura // This is how I collaborate with my children in teaching them to read [ESP/ENG]

La lectura es un valor muy importante y necesario para la vida, aprenderlo tiene mucho beneficio pero no hacerlo es como convertirse en un ser humano incompleto debido a que nos deja extremadamente limitados.

Enseñar a mis hijos la lectura es una gran responsabilidad, afortunadamente cuento con mi esposa @siriromo a la cual le doy mucho crédito porque hace un excelente trabajo en el aprendizaje de los niños. Obviamente también estoy involucrado pero digamos que la mayor parte o la parte más pesada la hace ella.

Sin embargo con mi pequeña he sido voluntario en ayudarla a mejorar su lectura, desde que comenzó a reconocer los sonidos le he leído historias y también la he puesto a leer a ella para explicarle acerca de lo que lee.

Inicialmente recuerdo que le ayudaba con los anuncios en las calles, como son grandes y bastante visibles es muy fácil que ellos puedan reconocer cada una de las letras, de esa forma fui intencional y pienso que es una manera sumamente fácil de ayudarlos a mejorar. Debemos entender que los niños cuando están aprendiendo algo se enfocan en aprenderlo cada vez más, la lectura no es la excepción pues adquirir conocimiento trae mucha algarabía, el “saber” es un bien preciado.

Reading is a very important and necessary value for life, learning it has a lot of benefit but not doing it is like becoming an incomplete human being because it leaves us extremely limited.

Teaching my children reading is a great responsibility, fortunately I have my wife @siriromo to whom I give a lot of credit because she does an excellent job in the children's learning. Obviously I am also involved but let's just say that most or the heaviest part is done by her.

However with my little girl I have volunteered to help her improve her reading, since she started recognizing sounds I have read stories to her and also had her read to me to explain about what she reads.

Initially I remember helping her with the signs on the streets, as they are big and quite visible it is very easy for them to recognize each of the letters, so I was intentional and I think it is a very easy way to help them improve. We must understand that when children are learning something they focus on learning it more and more, reading is no exception because acquiring knowledge brings a lot of joy, "knowing" is a precious good.

Yo suelo ser bastante estricto con las enseñanzas, cuando los enseño me enfoco en algo hasta que lo entiendan o como mínimo lo aprendan, digo como mínimo porque siendo niños no pueden entender todo, pero si repetir, y en este punto quiero enfatizar, la repetición es sumamente importante en el aprendizaje de la lectura, pues ver una y otra vez el sonido es lo que fija en ellos el aprendizaje.

Sumado a esto practico con ellos la memorización preguntándole repetidas veces lo mismo para ver si realmente lo aprendieron. De esta forma he podido ver avances en su lectura, por ejemplo con mi niña cuando la estoy escuchando leer la hago repetir las palabras hasta que lo hace bien, muchas veces me completa la oración sin leerla pero como suelo tener una copia de la misma puedo interrumpirla y corregirla al respecto, a veces se molesta pero esto ayuda a que fijen la lectura y no se coman los signos y demás.

Estas actividades como la repetición y la memorización son tips que he hecho para ayudar a mis hijos en la lectura, como dije inicialmente mi esposa es la que ha hecho la mayor parte del trabajo pero como padre y esposo puedo complementar su labor ayudándole de esta manera, hemos visto resultados, así que he decidido participar en la iniciativa primeramente por la invitación y segundo porque como padres también podemos ayudar en este aprendizaje de nuestros pequeños.

When I teach them I focus on something until they understand it or at least learn it, I say at least because being children they cannot understand everything, but they can repeat, and at this point I want to emphasize, repetition is extremely important in learning to read, because seeing over and over again the sound is what fixes in them the learning.

In addition to this, I practice memorization with them by asking them repeatedly the same thing to see if they really learned it. In this way I have been able to see progress in their reading, for example with my girl when I am listening to her reading I make her repeat the words until she gets it right, many times she completes the sentence without reading it but as I usually have a copy of it I can interrupt her and correct her about it, sometimes she gets upset but this helps her to fix the reading and not eat the signs and so on.

These activities like repetition and memorization are tips that I have done to help my children in reading, as I said initially my wife is the one who has done most of the work but as a father and husband I can complement her work helping her in this way, we have seen results, so I have decided to participate in the initiative firstly because of the invitation and secondly because as parents we can also help in this learning of our little ones.
