Flight line Shadows - Entry for the Shadow Contest/SMASh #334.
Hello Shadow Hunter's Community, friends and Hivians. I hope all of you are doing great today. Today I enter into the Shadow Hunter's SMASh Contest hosted by @melinda010100. Plenty of time to get your own entry into the contest. Just check out this post, Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest - ROUND 334 and be sure to read & follow the guidelines.
Yesterday I was doing my thing at work on the flight line awaiting on an inbound aircraft . I immediately noticed a lot of things casting shadows. I silently and cautiously pulled out my phone and took a few shots. I'm at work and we had quite a few helpers as we had a packed aircraft coming in with incoming cargo. Many don't mind if you take some photos but going overboard with it may lead to getting scolded. I never push the envelope with this😁
Here we have a semi tractor and trailer with some of the helpers. I really like this shadow as it not only cast a shadow of the vehicle but those that are chilling on it waiting for the aircraft to arrive. There were a total of three tractor trailers that were later filled up with cargo pallets.
What you see is a simple passenger van. Today I had the task of driving it. I brought out some load team members to the flight line and later used it to transport a few passengers that came in on the aircraft. I like how it not only cast a shadow but has some reflections on it. A double win, right? 😁
This piece of equipment is an 25K Aircraft loader. We have three aircraft loaders two like this one and another that is much larger. The bad news is the large one is out of service and the other 25K is being utilized for something else. So this one was used like an elevator to get 15 pallets off the aircraft. Another great shadow and I like how you can even see the open door being casted in it. BTW that is my boss but his back is to me and he is occupied on his phone like me, haha. So this is a rare photo because of those conditions.
Here we have an 10K All-Terrain (AT) forklift. This piece of equipment was used to take pallets off the aircraft loader and than was used to load them onto the flatbed trailers. We also had a standard 10K forklift that was used for the same purpose. A simple shadow of it along with some shadows of light carts.
After waiting nearly 40 minutes the aircraft has arrived. What we have here is the largest cargo aircraft in United States Air Force (USAF) inventory, a C-5 Super Galaxy. A pretty big piece of sheet metal, right? This aircraft brought in 15 pallets and 4 pieces of wheeled equipment. It also had a one of its own engines onboard on the cargo floor to bring to another C-5 that is broke awaiting it.
A thing of great size also casts a shadow of great size. I wish I would have gotten some shots up close to it because it was casting some really big and neat shadows. I would have had to be 50 or more feet in front of it to take those. I couldn't because it was time to get to work 😢 I tell you though I will probably catch many aircraft shadows towards the end of the month as we will have a big air show that will happen here, stay tuned 😁
Well we have come to an end of another post. I hope you enjoyed this shadow hunting adventure of mine. Time to visit some other shadow posts and see what they have captured.
Take care, stay safe and enjoy what's left of your weekend. Until next time!
The shadows are truly at its best. The intensity of the job can also be known from this picture. This truly is a shadow hunting adventure. All the very best for the entry
Thanks for the compliments and glad the weekend is here. I had a rough work stretch the last 24 hours up until we fished this offload. Take care 😁
Oh...24 hrs...too long hours friend. Take care. Happy weekend.
The shadows are clear, I guess this time the sun was in its intense heat. Looks so hot by looking at the shadow😌😁.
Yes I was impressed and everything out there had a shadow. Nah not too hot we had a cold front push through a couple of days ago, it was around 70° F (21° C) but sunny. A beautiful evening and I was caught at work, haha.
Lucky it's not hot, I'm thinking you would again have the sun kissed skin😁😜
Ha not again I sometimes learn my lesson 😜

Nice pics. C5 is a cool aircraft. I've rode one or two in my time.I am sure that sun was hot on that tarmac.
It was a nice cool evening but ya it's always a few degrees warmer on the tarmac but it wasn't too hot this go around 😊
That’s good
Oh your time now😊 good luck in the contest with those shadows!

I can feel the heat from your photos

It was deceiving as it didn't feel too hot at all. It's all due to a recent cold front coming in here. Next week will be hot again just in time since I'm on vacation, hehe 😲

Shadows and lots of sun... 😃 and how funny, when I saw the plane I thought of Sully, the character from a cartoon, Monster Inc.
A good comparison Sully as far as size wise. It's given the nick name of FRED. Which is short for:
F---ing Ridiculous Economic Disaster they break a lot not always reliable, haha.
😅 Take a good look at the face of that plane, it looks like Sully's face. But if that's how you say it is, FRED suits it perfectly.
Oh yes it does, hehe. Even a shadow that I didn't share could be Sully's shadow.
I really like this photo, by the way. 😄
Awesome shadows! I bet it's very hot and I hope you had your eyes protected from the sun.
Oh I had da shades 😎 hehe
Awesome shadow photos! That plane is huge if it takes 3 trucks to carry it's load!

Thanks they found me this time as I had to be there, hehe. If it were all pallets it would take 7 trucks and would need another for 1 pallet, as it can hold 36 pallets.
Wow! That is a monster plane!

Great that you took a break from work and were able to photograph these beautiful shadow projections.
Great shots @coolmidwestguy
Yup not much to do while waiting on aircraft arrival and shadows showed themselves so I took some shots 😁 Thanks for your appreciation.
Those are some nice shots! C-5's are huge! It's always fun seeing some of the Air Force toys there, in the Army you just don't get those up close and personal very often. Some great shadows!
It always interesting offloading a C-5. It takes a bit for the them to kneel down and open up but once the work starts it's quick. Since we had some wheeled equipment both ends were open and we had two load teams. The pallets came off on the nose end so gravity takes them suckers to loader with little pushing, haha. Great to come up with some shadows waiting on it to arrive.
I always love being around military toys, that's what I loved about the service. I can still get on base for the commissary and PX but not up close and personal with the fun toys!
I'm only able to because I crossed over to the civilian (GS) side. Only thing is I rarely travel on the governments dime. Two military from our shop went out to prepare and bring this cargo back. Where? Curacao, quite the horrible place to go right? I would have been on the plane to go before even saying yes, haha.
Such a great shadow
Thank you for dropping by 😁
These are cool shadow shots! Lucky you to have taken shadows on the Air Force field without getting scolded hehe. Looking forward to seeing more 😉
I tell you it's odd taking pictures out their on the airfield. Mainly because I have been out there hundreds of times I've seen it a time or two so others will find it odd seeing me do it so I tread carefully, haha. I do it now to share with my many virtuals here, hehe. Every once in awhile we see something new and we all take out our phones and become temporary photographers 😁
Namaste🙏, you have shared beautiful shadow images of the vehicles and first one with people shadow is awesome. good luck for the contest..
Thank you very much for your appreciation 😁
