Lotus Plant Reflection: Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 181

(Edited)

Hello friends and Hivians. Hope your all doing fine. I'm back again to show you some reflections this time with some American yellow lotus reflected in a nearby lake. This article will serve as my entry into the Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 181 hosted by @olgavita. Still a few days left if you want to join. Just make sure to follow the rules and guidelines in the post.

Well I decided to get out on the lake early it was about 7:00 a.m. when I arrived. I was initially looking for some neat shadows but that all changed when they seemed to be hidden. That become an after thought quickly as I seen some ever so cool reflections of so many lotus plants in the water. The Lotus plants here at this lake are of good size. Actually most are bunched together and look like floating fields of them on top of the water. Beauty that is tough to pick and place in vase, right?

Well the picture above is my entry photo. Surprisingly it was one of the first photos I took. A flower is beautiful on Its own but it being reflected on water is amazing to see as well. This morning reflections in the water were only coming from things located in it. I spent another 30 minutes or so looking and taking more photo reflections.

The sun was playing peak a boo with some clouds. Amazing enough some of the flowers of these plants were doing the same with it reflections. Hiding close to the pads as if it was hiding something underneath them.

Now if this would have had a bigger flower in the photo frame this would have been my entry. I love this reflection because you can even see the vein detail of the leaf in the reflection. I really wonder if the sun was brighter today how some of these would have turned out.

Now the easiest reflection photos to catch were those of the pads and it's leaves. Many looked like shadows but were not due to colors. A shadow can only be black now 😁

Well this pretty much wraps up what I will be sharing this time around for reflections. The beautiful weather and slight breeze and seeing these reflections really was fulfilling. It was a great way to start my day off. I ended up doing quite a bit more today that I will share another time. I hope you enjoyed them! Best of luck to all who entered the contest this week. Time for me to check them out in a bit 😁

Take care, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Until next time!

What a pretty spot! Lots of great reflections there. Most importantly it looks nice and quiet for some fishing!

You are really great, my friend, for capturing the beautiful reflection of the lotus flower, it looks like a real flower in the water.

When I visited Taiwan last year, I saw several lotus ponds but I think not in season, saw only a few flowers 🤣

There are a good sight to see. There not suppose to be on this lake and lake management has struggled to keep it under control. They can take over a waterway quickly with its beauty.

Good luck amigo with those (many) cute lotus reflections, they occupy the pond and also offer many reflections to hunter! 😊 Happy Weekend!

Thanks Amiga. I wanted to capture some shadows of them. I got ones for the white and pink ones but none still for the yellow ones, jaja. Maybe one more try, hehe. Glad though I ran across all these reflections though. Happy weekend to you as well!

nice post. sometimes it can be confusing to determine whether an image is a shadow or a reflection. for example gray/black objects make gray/black reflections.

as you point out shadows don't have color, at least not the color of the object casting them. but that applies only when the object is opaque, check out my last my last post in the shadow contest

happy hunting

Yes sometimes it is difficult to tell and a camera shot can make it even harder to tell. I like yours looks like two in one shot(reflection&shadow)
