A Guacharaca in a bad mood

I must confess that with a few exceptions, I am not very good at photographing birds, especially up close, but I love to watch them. I know that my phone camera is not the best for photographing them and my husband's DSLR is out of service at the moment.

But a few days ago on one of my trips to the mountains when I was on the road leading to the nature reserve near my house I came across a pair of Guacharacas or Chachalacas. So here's my attempt to take a few photos for this week's #SMaP Free Theme.

There were two. One was calmly standing on the roof of the parking lot of a building next to the road leading to the park.

And the other crossed our path but it was faster than me and when I wanted to photograph it, it flew into the branches of one of the trees.

But I didn't give up and went closer to see if I could get a decent picture. On the first try some branches covered it a little bit.

So I changed the angle and got a little closer and I felt that she turned to look at me with a very unfriendly face. She looked like she was in a bad mood. 😂

By the way, this is the pic I chose for the #SMaP contest 👇

I got a little closer and it seems she didn't like it very much. Then I remembered that a few weeks ago, someone we passed on the trail said that a Guacharaca had tried to attack her, and I wondered if it was the same one. By the look on her face, I felt she could attack us at any moment, and believe me we didn't want to know what a Guacharaca peck feels like 🤣. So we went on our way.

In Caracas, there are lots of Guacharacas. They are not my favorite birds because they are quite noisy. I hear them quite a lot from my balcony, especially on Sunday mornings. I guess when the city is quiet, the noise they make is heard louder.

Have you ever seen one?

Thank you for reading!

I looked up the Wikipedia article on this bird. The recording there sounds obnoxious. Here, most birds are small songbirds. Ravens and crows sometimes make a racket, but they are not too disruptive even at their noisiest in my opinion. Our big birds are hawks, ospreys, and owls. They're usually fairly quiet.

Yes, the sound they make can become obnoxious, hehe.
Thank you for stopping by!

The outcome is still pretty though, and it's clear and neat. You just captured a pretty bird. Good thing it didn't fly away.

I didn't know this species, despite having a bird name I know them little, hehe. He has the face of few friends, I'm glad you didn't get any peaks. It's still beautiful and a special moment to get photographs like these. Thank you for taking the risk to share them with us. 😁

They are very common in the American continent. In Caracas, there are many of them and you hear them often.

I would really love to be able to take more pictures of birds, but I think I need a proper camera hehe

Un abrazo!

Hehe, speak with the Guacharacas, hum? I don't know ... They can be very noisy and can become obnoxious if there are several singing together. But who knows maybe Eddie Wildlife can get along with them 😉😆

It is certainly not easy to take photographs of birds, it is very difficult for me to take a decent photograph of them.
What a beautiful bird, I'm sorry that they are so noisy and invade your peace on Sundays.
Beautiful shots dear friend @coquicoin. Have a wonderful weekend

It does seems like it's in a bad mood. The beak looks like it could hurt. Very nice photographs.

Hello @coquicoin
What a beautiful bird, I have never seen one like it before, I think it is because there is nothing like this in my city.
Your photographs are very beautiful
