My entry to the #POBphotocontest: Boats of Singapore!

I've been wondering what's going on with the weather lately. It's been raining every day over the past week and even in recent days. The worst part is the timing—it always seems to rain right when I’m about to head out for a walk to visit somewhere I’ve been wanting to explore.

This week, I only got lucky two days ago when I went to Orchard Road. The rain had already stopped by the time I arrived, which gave me a nice opportunity to explore the area.

I really hope the weather improves tomorrow and stays clear through the weekend, so I can follow through with the plans I’ve made. If it does get better, I should definitely go on more photowalks to build up some content for next week, lol.

For today's post, I’m participating in the POBphotocontest with the theme "boats"!

I’ve been meaning to join this contest for a while, but in the previous rounds, I couldn’t capture anything I felt was worth sharing. However, with this new theme, I realized I have plenty of photos that align with it, and I’m more than excited to use one of them as my entry.

I’ll be sharing several photos in this post, but for the contest, I’ve chosen this shot of the boats at Keppel Bay!

In Singapore, owning a boat is considered a luxury due to its hefty price tag. On top of that, maintaining a boat and paying for docking fees can be incredibly expensive. Boats can only be docked in designated areas, which adds to the cost. Owning one of these certainly suggests you have deep pockets.

This place is called Keppel Bay, located in the HarbourFront area on the west side of Singapore. The building in the background is called The Reflections, a stunning piece of architecture. I’m truly amazed by its design—it looks like something straight out of the future!

Aside from my entry, I also wanted to share a unique type of boat you can find inside one of the shopping malls in the city. Located within Marina Bay Sands, this attraction is especially popular with tourists.

I suppose taking a boat ride to explore the inside of a shopping mall is an experience worth sharing with friends or family when you return home. That’s probably the main appeal for tourists who opt for this kind of ride, even though it’s not exactly cheap.

Lastly, there’s another type of boat designed for tourists who want to see the city through the famous Singapore River. This river was once the hub of maritime activity in the past, back when boats docking in the country were much smaller.

Now that it no longer serves that purpose, the river has been rehabilitated and transformed into one of the cleanest and most beautiful in the country. Today, a popular boat ride operates day and night, offering tourists a unique and scenic way to experience the city.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my post and these beautiful boat scenes with me. Whether it's the luxury yachts at Keppel Bay, the unique mall boat ride, or the scenic tours along the Singapore River, each offers a glimpse into Singapore's charm and innovation. I hope these photos inspire you to discover these spots for yourself someday!

Obviously, Singapore is full of yachts - port city! Same as St.Petersburg where I live - there are a lot of yachts and boats in the channels (but not during the wintertime). Maybe I should enter the challenge too? 😃 !BEER and !PIZZA

Oh Im sorry about that. I lost awareness that some parts of the world are having the opposite weather as ours. I do hope that your region will be blessed with rain too 🙏

Nice place to be for the Keppel Bay. The restaurant there is good! Nice work that you manage to put in so many boat options in Singapore.

We stopped planning for weekends as the weather is so crazy this year, and we can't trust the forecast anymore. We wake up on Saturday and decide what we want to do. It's better than being disappointed.

I think owing a boat is considered luxury in most part of the world 😉

Great photos!

Looks like I'll just have to expect the expected when it comes to the weather. Anyway, December is coming, so I'm hopeful that there will be less rain and more opportunities for me to go out.

This weekend I'll do the same as what you do. I'll base my plans on the current weather 😅

Cheers!

Wow! I like the idea of taking a boat ride t explore the shopping mall. It's the first time I see something like this! As you mention, even though it's not cheap, I can imagine it would be very popular among tourists.

Thanks for sharing!

True. And there's a part of the experience where you will pass by a manmade waterfalls which is about 10m high. You may get wet though or at least a drizzle 😅
