5,250%

Great news! In 1899, Canada reduced its postal rate from 3 cents to 2 cents. Stop the press. Oh how times have changed. Nowadays standard postage is $1.07. That’s a 5,250% increase over the course of 125 years. Unbelievable isn’t it. (But of course we all know that the real killer here is inflation)These 3 stamps were issued in 1908 to commemorate the founding or settlement of Quebec City back in 1608, by Samuel De Champlain the explorer. I certainly would not have known that without doing some quick research! It is called the “Quebec Tercentenary issue”. The folks in the 2 cent stamp are King Edward VII and Queens Alexandra. Jacques Cartier and Samuel Champlain are depicted in the 1 cent, and the half cent we have the Prince and Princess of Wales. Which is your favourite?

Wow bro look at those cool notes😍😍 It’s interesting to think how much things change over time. Those stamps look so cool man, especially with the historical figures on them. Inflation really does impact everything, doesn't it.

It is crazy how the dollar's buying power has eroded over time. Who knows where we will be in another 10 or 20 years. Thanks for the comment.

You're so right big brother.. I hope things get better with the dollar but I fear the government is not going to stop borrowing

Nice, I like the 1/2 cent one, then the green onto the red one. These are pretty dang cool for sure and I think that is the fun thing to do while you take pictures of whatever you shoot, doing the homework on them and gaining some kind of knowledge of that subject. Have a blessed Sunday my friend.

It kind of takes you through a historical view of Canada. I somewhat remember learning about this in grade school some years back. It all seems more interesting now! Thanks, and have a blessed Sunday as well.

I love the old style stamps, just so much more character to them! Imagine that, a price cut on postal rates instead of an increase.... Very cool stamps!
