My Actifit RC: July 31th 23 - The last stage of the trilogy of via Marina - market square - IAAC 420

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.

A plume of clouds present on Vesuvius rises timidly in a blue summer sky along the streets of Marina in Naples.

The spire of Portosalvo today is illuminated by shy sun rays that gently warm this Monday morning in July.

The oldest building of Angevin origin in the city of Naples is the Gothic church of San Eligio Maggiore that dates back to the thirteenth century after Christ.

The building was built just outside the city walls and had attached a hospital and a cemetery for foreigners who were in the city who find themselves losing their lives without a burial place.

Due to a bombing during the Second World War, the building was destroyed and could only be restored following a restoration of the original Gothic form.

Outside the church there is this beautiful arch of Sant'Eligio whose history I have already told you in the past.

One of the most atrocious moments in Neapolitan history was the beheading of the king who, when he was very young, tried to defend the Swabian sovereignty over the Neapolitan city or Corradino di Svevia in the market square there was the horrendous act that sanctioned the passage of the city under the dominion Angevin.

After various vicissitudes was built this beautiful temple, namely the Church of Santa Croce and Purgatorio al Mercato, in his honor that is now unusable because of the bombing suffered, the explosion of a ship in the port during World War II and the earthquake of Irpinia in 1980.

But from afar I could observe that there were workers inside and a construction site that is renovating it. Obviously I look forward to the end of the work.

To the east and west there are these beautiful and picturesque twin piperno spires both with attached service fountains for the market that was held in this vast center of the city during the beautiful centuries of its history.

At the center of the square was installed a modern work of art that I reserve not to comment.

In this #iamalivechallenge 420 we found ourselves celebrating a beautiful #alive day that concluded this trilogy of walks in the vicinity of via Marina in search of hidden gems of my historic city or Naples.
