Beer and good Indian food
Friday Evening
Follow me to some great Indian food π₯ at the well-known βPontstrasseβ at the student quarter in Aachen.
This is how a weekend should start.
Hey Hive Family
and let us travel the world again
to taste all this food
Lamb Tikka Massala
I think that Lamb Tikka Masala is more than just a dish;
It's a vibrant journey through Indian cuisine.
Picture tender chunks of lamb, marinated in an array of spices and yogurt, grilled to perfection. These pieces, known as "tikka," are then bathed in a rich, creamy sauce that's a kaleidoscope of flavor. The sauce, a masterful blend of tomatoes, cream, and a secret harmony of spices like turmeric, cumin, and garam masala, envelops each piece of lamb, ensuring every bite is a burst of warmth and depth.
Served with a side of fluffy basmati rice or warm naan bread, it's a dish that invites you to explore the complexity of Indian flavors, where each ingredient plays a crucial role in the tapestry of taste. Lamb Tikka Masala is not just food; it's an experience. It offers a window into the culinary soul of India, a country where food is an art and spices are the palette. For travelers, it's a memorable way to connect with the local culture, a savory reminder of the places they've visited and the stories they've gathered along the way.
Aloo Ghobi Masala
Our other dish was a vegetarian one.
The beauty of Aloo Ghobi Masala lies in its simplicity, allowing the natural flavors of the vegetables to meld harmoniously with the bold spices. It's a dish that embodies the essence of home cooking in India, served with generous helpings of basmati rice or warm, pillowy naan bread to soak up the rich sauce.
This Aloo Ghobi Masala offers a taste of India's culinary diversity and the importance of vegetarian cuisine within its culture. Itβs a dish that tells a story of tradition, of meals prepared in countless homes across the country, and of the warmth and hospitality that Indian cuisine is known for. Enjoying Aloo Ghobi Masala is not just about savoring a meal; it's about experiencing the rich tapestry of flavors that define Indian cooking.
This food need liquid
Sure, the spices and all the rice π need some drinks. You know what happened - I found a beer on the menu.
Hefe Weizen
Hefe Weizen, a hallmark of Bavarian beer tradition, embodies the essence of Germany's rich brewing heritage. This unfiltered wheat beer, notable for its cloudy appearance, is brewed with a mix of wheat and barley malt.
The term "Hefe" (yeast) is crucial, contributing to its distinctive flavors and haziness, while "Weizen" (wheat) highlights its primary grain.
Characterized by a refreshing taste, Hefe Weizen is beloved for its unique blend of fruit and spice notes, particularly banana and clove, which arise naturally during fermentation due to specific yeast strains.
This beer goes well with the spicy Indian food and it comes with a pale to golden color, crowned with a creamy head, thanks to the wheat proteins and high carbonation.
A typical HefeWeizen comes with such a glass - pic by @detlev somewhere in a train
Served in a tall, vase-shaped glass to enhance its aromatic qualities, Hefe Weizen is not just a beverage but a dive into Bavarian culture and craftsmanship. It's a summertime favorite, offering a light, effervescent drinking experience that captures the communal spirit and brewing mastery of Bavaria. For travelers and beer enthusiasts, it's a taste of the local tradition, reflecting centuries of brewing history in each sip.
Jogi Indian
This Restaurant comes with amicable staff and great food. Itβs a tiny place with just a few tables and not one of these big chain restos. The atmosphere is like a short trip to India.
Find that restaurant by my #pinmapple link. That area of Aachen also offers a lot of nightlife and bars and a good start to Friday night.

I have to admit that I have never tried real Indian food, apart from a few curries that I cooked at home. But I'm sure it's a great combination with a wheat Heffe Weizen.
HefeWeizen in the right glass :)) That's a view that always pleases me :))
