Hotel bar „Menu“

Sure, this nice place comes with some good drinks and some of from even the Tap. ;-)

But first my car was parked at a charger and as this takes a while, we went into the bar.

After browsing the menu a local beer seems to be the best choice. So, here we go.

Brand krachtig blond

Taste of the Beer

Brand Krachtig Blond is a bold Dutch blonde ale that knows how to make an impression. Pouring a bright, golden color with a thick, creamy head, this beer is all about a full-bodied flavor experience. The aroma hits you first—rich malt with hints of honey and a touch of citrus that gets your taste buds tingling. When you take that first sip, you’re met with a robust maltiness that’s both sweet and slightly toasty. But don’t be fooled; it’s got a spicy, peppery kick from the Belgian yeast, adding complexity that keeps things interesting. The finish is smooth yet dry, leaving behind a pleasant bitterness that lingers just long enough to make you want another sip. At 6.5% ABV, it packs a punch without being overpowering, making it perfect for those who appreciate a beer with character and depth.

The Brewery Location

Brewed in Wijlre, a small town in the southern part of the Netherlands, Brand Brewery is one of the oldest and most respected names in Dutch brewing. Tucked away in the scenic Limburg province, this brewery is a local legend with a rich history dating back to 1340. The region is known for its rolling hills, vineyards, and a landscape that feels more like Tuscany than the typical flatlands associated with the Netherlands. It’s a place where tradition meets innovation, and the Brand Brewery embodies this perfectly. Here, brewing isn’t just a craft; it’s a way of life passed down through generations. You can feel that passion in every glass of Brand Krachtig Blond, a beer that carries the spirit of Wijlre’s brewing heritage.

The Local Vibe

Wijlre and the surrounding Limburg area are perfect for those who love to explore beyond the beaten path. The vibe here is all about relaxation and enjoying the good things in life—good food, great company, and exceptional beer. Imagine sitting on a terrace overlooking the lush countryside, a cold glass of Brand Krachtig Blond in hand, as you soak up the serene surroundings. The local culture is a blend of Dutch and Belgian influences, with a strong focus on hospitality. It’s the kind of place where everyone feels like a friend, and every meal is an event. Whether you’re cycling through the rolling hills, visiting a historic castle, or just chilling at a local pub, the atmosphere in Wijlre is all about taking it slow and savoring the moment—just like you would with a well-crafted beer.

Bitterballen

Bitterballen are a beloved Dutch snack, often enjoyed in bars, cafes, and during social gatherings across the Netherlands. These bite-sized, deep-fried balls are crispy on the outside and filled with a savory, creamy ragout made typically from beef or veal. Bitterballen are the perfect example of Dutch comfort food—crunchy, warm, and deeply satisfying.

What’s this

IMG_9046.jpeg

What Are Bitterballen?

Bitterballen are small, round croquettes made from a thick stew or ragout that is cooled until firm, then shaped into balls, breaded, and deep-fried until golden brown. The filling usually consists of shredded beef or veal, mixed with a rich roux-based sauce made from butter, flour, beef broth, and various seasonings. The result is a luscious, gooey interior encased in a crunchy breadcrumb shell. The flavor is hearty and savory, with a hint of nutmeg or pepper often adding a subtle warmth to each bite.

Enjoying Bitterballen

Bitterballen are often served as a snack or appetizer, usually alongside a cold beer or a strong Dutch drink. The combination of the hot, crunchy bitterballen with a cool, refreshing beverage is a match made in heaven for a Beerlover. You’ll commonly find them on menus at Dutch “brown cafes” (traditional pubs), at parties, or during events where finger foods are served. They are often presented with a small dish of spicy mustard, which perfectly complements the savory filling with a bit of tangy heat.

For anyone exploring Dutch cuisine, bitterballen are a must-try snack. They capture the essence of Dutch comfort food—simple yet deeply flavorful, perfect for sharing with friends over drinks and good conversation.

The result

<h3The Driver got new liquid energy and even some hot food. The car got a lot energy for the long trip tomorrow and all of them had a big smile.

Btw. we shared a little 0.25l beer with two people - just before you ask.

Have a great day everybody
and let us travel the world again

That seems like one of the best beers ever with the number of things you mentioned one could taste/decipher therein.

I was wondering why you wanted to have beer when you're clearly going to go back to drive, but I see you didn't take much. That seems like a spot you should come back to with a designated driver. Lol 😅

Hehe, I love your drawings and really enjoy this each time you do one.

Have a !BEER from me

Yeah, this beer was just a shared sip for the taste - beneath the coffee we had.

I like the idea with the other driver….
