Floris Passion – A Tropical Vacation in a Bottle

Fruit beer - hmmm

Alright, let’s get one thing straight before we dive in:

I’m not usually the kind of beer lover who reaches for a bottle that looks like it belongs in a beachside smoothie bar. My go-to lineup usually leans more toward Belgian blonds and IPA.

But then came Floris Passion.

I was skeptical. Passion fruit? In a witbier? With 3.6% ABV? I braced myself for disappointment, like a professor walking into a freshman philosophy seminar. But the moment I took a sip, my taste buds packed their bags and took off on a tropical sabbatical.

It’s fruity. It’s fun. It’s… shockingly good.

The Beer facts

Floris Passion – the name alone sounds like hammocks, palm trees, and a sunset with steel drums in the background. This Belgian White Fruit Beer comes in at a gentle 3.6% ABV – light, yes, but certainly not lacking in flavor.

First sip? A full-on fruit tornado.

Juicy passion fruit takes center stage, bursting with sweet, exotic vibes that instantly teleport you to a Caribbean beach. Underneath that, you’ll find the classic witbier character: slightly fizzy, smooth, and rounded off with subtle hints of coriander and orange peel lingering in the background.

The finish? Fruity, fresh, and dangerously easy to drink. This isn’t a beer you sip slowly – this is liquid sunshine and it demands more sunshine after the first bottle.

What’s Special

What makes Floris Passion stand out?

For me, it’s the bold blend of witbier and tropical fruit cocktail – and it actually works. This beer isn’t trying to be overly cool or complex. It’s here to bring you joy. And it delivers.

The brewery uses real fruit flavors, not some artificial candy-syrup nonsense, and you can tell immediately. The passion fruit tastes juicy and authentic, with just the right balance of sweetness.
It’s a beer for people who miss summer – or are actively celebrating it.

The Cover

The bottle looks just like the beer tastes: bright, bold, and bursting with color. Purples, yellows, and tropical imagery – the label isn’t high art, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s loud, cheerful, and just a little wild.

The classic “Floris” lettering gives it a traditional Belgian vibe, while the juicy passion fruits in the background make it feel like you just walked into a tropical street market.

Is it kitschy? Sure. But in a fun, unapologetic way. And let’s be honest: when a beer tastes this good, it can look however the hell it wants.

About the Brewery

Floris Passion comes from the folks at Brouwerij Huyghe – yes, that Huyghe, the one with the pink elephant. Based in Melle, near Ghent, this brewery has been doing its thing since 1906, brewing everything that doesn’t run away fast enough.

In addition to Belgian classics like the legendary Delirium Tremens, Huyghe has made a name for itself with creative fruit beers – and you can taste the passion in every drop.

Fun fact: the Floris line is named after the brewer’s son – so it’s not just fruity, it’s family.

Final Thoughts

Floris Passion is a fruity escape from the everyday grind. A beer that brings the beach to your balcony and puts sunshine in your glass, even if it’s pouring outside.
It’s playful, sweet, and exotic – perfect for anyone who loves a good witbier but wants to shake things up.

Me? I’m a fan. And if you’re suddenly craving passion fruit and blue skies, now you know what to pour.
Cheers to spring and summer – whenever it starts!

Have a great day everybody
and let us travel the world again

I've heard we can hitchhike there pretty well ;)

I actually get from Amsterdam to Prague that way years ago :)

Man, hitchhiking!

Did this all my youth in Germany. Was "mainly" fun if you skip the waiting time at a wrong pickup spot

Cool review, made me wanna try this beer :) It was just a few days ago on Mauricius where I learned my lesson that the tropics and beer can actually get along very well. All of these beers were amazing...

My friend, I don't believe you can find such a marvel here in Cuba. I think I'll be left with only my wishes, haha. Although I never know what the future will bring. If the opportunity ever arises, I already have your recommendation to try it. Cheers!!!

As a fan of fruit, I'm going to have to populate it to experience that sweet taste.
