The Atonium and a few Maes
Brussels is calling
Whenever you visit Brussels a visit to the icon of the city - the Atonium - is a must.
Hey Hive Family
let us travel the world again
today we visit Brussels
About the Atonium
The Atomium in Brussels is an iconic architectural marvel that stands as a symbol of scientific progress and futuristic design. Constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo 58), the Atomium is a striking representation of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times.
Comprising nine interconnected spheres, the Atomium's unique structure is not just visually captivating, but it also holds a wealth of history and significance. The spheres are connected by tubular escalators and house various exhibition spaces that explore themes of science, art, and culture. The highest sphere offers panoramic views of the city, making it a popular tourist attraction.
The Atomium serves as a powerful reminder of humanity's fascination with technological advancement and the potential of science to shape our world. Over the decades, it has become a cherished symbol of Brussels and a must-visit destination for those interested in architecture, design, and the exploration of the wonders of the universe.
Art makes thirsty
After walking some time in the lovely town of Brussels we got a bit thirsty. Luckily there is a Pub at every corner and we found a nice lady serving us a few cold Maes beer to help against the thirst.
Maes beer
Maes beer is a well-known Belgian lager that has been brewed for generations. Here are some details you may like to know as a Beerloving Hivian about Maes beer:
History: The Maes brewery was founded in 1897 by Egied Maes in Waarloos, Belgium. It started as a small family-owned brewery and has grown over the years to become a significant player in the Belgian beer market.
Type of Beer: Maes beer is a pale lager, known for its crisp and refreshing taste. It falls into the category of pilsner-style beers, which are characterized by their light color and balanced flavor profile.
Ingredients: Like most traditional lagers, Maes beer is brewed using malted barley, hops, yeast, and water. The specific combination of these ingredients and the brewing process contribute to its distinct taste.
Flavor Profile: Maes beer is often described as having a light, slightly sweet maltiness with a mild hop bitterness. It's known for being easy to drink and is often enjoyed on warm days or as a casual, everyday beer.
Alcohol Content: The alcohol by volume (ABV) of Maes beer typically falls within the range of 4.8% to 5.2%, which is quite common for lagers.
Packaging: Maes beer is available in various packaging formats, including bottles, cans, and draft. It's commonly found in Belgian bars, restaurants, and supermarkets.
Popularity: Maes beer is well-recognized and enjoyed in Belgium, and it has a presence in international markets as well. It's often chosen as a session beer for social gatherings and casual occasions.
Acquisition: In 2008, the Maes brewery was acquired by Alken-Maes, which is itself a subsidiary of the Dutch brewing company Heineken. Despite the change in ownership, the brewing traditions and recipes have been preserved.
Overall, Maes beer is a staple in Belgian beer culture, known for its approachable taste and role in social settings. It's a representation of the rich brewing heritage that Belgium is famous for.
My Maes conclusion
This is one of the easy drink beers in Belgium like Jupiler and Stella.
Maes beer offers a light and crisp taste with subtle malt sweetness that's well-balanced by a delicate hop bitterness. Its smooth and refreshing profile makes it an easy-drinking choice, perfect for enjoying on relaxed occasions. The beer's clean finish leaves a pleasant and lingering satisfaction on the palate.

RAMMSTEIN LIVE
We visited the 2023 show from the well known band RAMMSTEIN and you see my detailed post with a lot of videos here at https://peakd.com/hive-193816/@detlev/rammstein-live-in-brussels-what-a-spectacular-show
If you may not know that band, here a short intro: Rammstein is a German industrial metal band renowned for their explosive and theatrical live performances which we enjoyed a lot this beery evening. Formed in 1994, the band's distinct fusion of heavy metal, electronic elements, and provocative lyrics has garnered a massive international following. Known for hits like "Du Hast" and "Sonne," Rammstein's music often explores dark and controversial themes, sparking discussions and captivating audiences. Their elaborate stage shows, complete with pyrotechnics and intricate set designs, have solidified their reputation as one of the most captivating and visually spectacular live acts in the music industry. We had a lot of fun with the heat from the fireshow and all the well known metal songs.

Einfach toll.
The Atonium looks cool man especially with the lights, and RAMMSTEIN and cold brews too, you know how to have a good time man. Work hard, play hard 👌
