Tips To Cool You Down From The Sweltering Summer Sun: AseanHive Community Challenge #105, "How to Beat the Heat."
Summer is the time of year to embrace life to the fullest. More hours of daylight and more sunshine boost our spirits, serotonin, and vitamin D levels. Who could desire more? Unfortunately, this magnificent season has one little downside. The heat is hellish.
We perspire, feel uneasy, and feel thirsty before we step out of the house. The easiest option would be to turn up the air conditioning and stay indoors till the changing seasons. Unfortunately, things aren't that easy. As a result, we devised several novel techniques to cool down and beat the heat!
- Chill your fruit smoothies and juices:
Is there a more wonderful way to chill off than indulging in a cold, tasty treat? There are lots of delicious frozen treats available. Watermelon, berries, and other fruits are tasty and nutrient-dense. Additionally, freeze your juices and smoothies to have a handy, healthful snack on hand.
- To impress, wear less.
It's better with less. This is especially true during the peak of the summer season. Wear something airy and breezy, like silk or cotton, to allow your skin to breathe.👗Never overlook the importance of an umbrella or wearing headgear that will protect you from the sun, such as caps or hats with wide brims. Sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glaring sun. Your buddies are cotton dresses or tops, sunglasses, umbrellas, and hats. Additionally, wear a mask to protect your nose from the dust that may cause allergies or allergic rhinitis.👒
- Eat Moderately
Salads are very popular in tropical regions like the Philippines. They won't make you feel sluggish in the summer heat and are much easier to digest. Eat no fattening stuff at all. I know those mouthwatering burgers may seem appetizing, but paying attention to fruits and vegetables can make you feel much better. These nutritious treats will quickly cool you off and keep you hydrated because they are so high in water content.
- Freshen Up With A New Hairstyle
Time to change your hairdo. Get a new hairstyle to add some variety to your look. Go short to reap double the benefits. Shorter hair will help you look fresher or brush your hair up to keep you cool. Also, remember to take care of your hair throughout the scorching summer temperatures.
- Keep A Water Glass Handy
A water bottle closer would also be useful. Sweating generates considerable water losses, hence water replacement is critical. Dehydration raises your body temperature proportionally. As a result, staying hydrated during the summer months is critical. And here's a rapid cooling trick straight out of the animal realm. Can you guess why elephants enjoy misting their ears and themselves with water? Because when the water evaporates, it cools them. Also, always have a spray bottle handy if you tend to sweat easily! Make sure to stay hydrated.
- Reduce your exposure to sunshine.
The sun is bright and forceful. Sun damage accumulates over time and poses a health danger! It is time to buy lots of sunscreen. Additionally, pull the drapes, shutters, or blinds down during the day to prevent the sun from absorbing heat in your home. When the temperature drops at night, however, open a window and hang a damp sheet in front. A little breeze will come in, cooling down the entire space.
- Keep the Environment Safe
That seems like a lot to ask for, doesn't it? It is feasible to lower those temperatures and still help the environment, though. Turn off the lights, and stay away from the use of electric appliances like the oven as much as possible. Reducing the use of electric appliances in your home will lessen the chance of internal heating.
- Preserve your skincare products cool!
Your face masks, creams, serums, toners, lotions, and moisturizers should also be stored in the refrigerator. Not only will the chilly temperatures make them have a longer lifespan, but they will also provide a refreshing feeling whenever you use them.
- A Spoonful Of Rice Can Help
Are you trying to find a common home item that you can use to create a cold compress? You only need to consider rice! Because it is starchy and dense, it stays cold for a very long time. Put a spoonful of rice in a bag or sock, tie it up, and place it in the freezer for a few hours. There you have it—a do-it-yourself cold compress that you make.
- Play Some Music To Listen To The Sound Of Nature
Here's another trick you can enjoy to help you chill. Pay attention to the natural sounds. Turn up the volume on the whispering waves of the ocean, turn on the chirping sound of seabirds, or let the sound of falling rain lull you to sleep. These will undoubtedly revive pleasant sensations and chill vibes.
- Maintain your cool and relaxed demeanor
Take a stroll through the garden or the house with your bare feet. You cool down more quickly when the moisture on your feet dissipates. Pampering yourself to a cold soak for your feet and sprinkling them with flowers to help with the soothing is another brilliant alternative. If you've spent a long, hot day walking or standing about, this is quite beneficial.
- Cold Bathroom Break or Shower💦
If you've tried everything and you're still excessively warm, you can always take an enjoyable, cold shower. This will quickly bring you down in temperature but take caution not to get too warm too soon after you get dry. For this reason, I advise staying damp and letting it air dry; it will undoubtedly cool you down.
Everyone, best of luck beating with the summer heat! Kindly #share your cool-down techniques and solutions in the comments section. Thank you, and keep yourself safe!

Good luck Po ate. Beat mo Ang heat talaga. Sobrang init po Kasi.
S8nabi no pa umaabot ng 46 celsius centigrade ang heat index minsan hanggang 52? Sobra! Combulsion na!
Hmm, I hav'nt tried that cold soak feet with flowers Sis, I think I will try that.
Try it, Sis and you will love it...so refreshing and fragrant. Dami ko pa tips kaya lng I still have works to do.
Mahapdi!😢
I love all what listed here but I can only do a few here. I already cut my hair short so not I feel more refresh than when my hair is still long. I also drink lore water to stay hydrated ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Good to hear that you stay hydrated by drinking more water. The scorching heat of the sun makes us drowsy and staying long periods outdoors is dangerous nowadays. I just changed my hairstyle to a manageable length so I can still brush it up. If it's too short I cannot make any style that I desire to do with my hair. ☺️
Wow! You have a lot of summer hacks! Love them all the best for me is the soaking of flowers and walking barefoot in the garden specially when the ground is grassy and moist.
Thank you, sweetheart. 💞 Thank you to my grandmother and mother. Those suggestions were given to me in primary school because I am allergic to pollen, the heat of the sun, and perspiration, and often become warm. I do them in the summer or throughout the hot season to help chill my body down. Even during the colder months, I have a variety of methods for warming my body.😊

Thanks for the tip @littlenewthings 🌷💞
I cannot wear less because I’m not just comfy to wear less. Hehehe. I’m more comfy with a tee and shorts, sometimes pajama.
Yes I have a water bottle in my room, but little sister took it.
Your advices are right because it’s also the advice of mother’s doctor.
Hi, @iamshane48788. 😊 I am allergic to tees in the summer. I can go around the house in my comfortable cotton shorts and a top. I perspire easily, which is why our water bill has risen this month. This is how I deal with the burning heat of the sun. Drinking cold water or coconut water helps to cool down the body. I usually carry a bottle of water with me when heading out.🌷💞.
I agree, there is seemingly no end to the amount of cold water i can drink when it's hot inside and out. When I can't stay cool, also like you I'll take frequent showers, and it's easy because we have a basin behind the house. I can just do my Hive work while wearing a sarong, and if the sweat becomes too much I can walk outside and do a few scoops of cold water with the dipper, refreshed and ready to return to work.
The heat of the sun nowadays indeed beats me. I have lots of skin allergies due to dust, pollens, and my own sweat. Just like you every time I feel excessive body heat, I run to the bathroom and take a shower. And yes! When I was in my university days, and in high school I wore a Sarong, we call it "Malong" in Mindanao. It's so refreshing while eating my favorite Ice Cream Flavor or Halo-halo or the so-called Scrambled Ice Banana..whew! I love it so much. It cools me down. Enjoy the Summertime, @justinparke. Thanks for the unwavering support to the community.💞🌷😊

I already exerted all my efforts, ma'am, but sad to say, she said she needs a new pair of eyeglasses so she can type and reasd well but I doubt that because she is reading contents that are posted in Facebook and texts from messenger... I wonder why she prefers such kind of soc med.🤔
