Pokemon TCG Pocket - Venusaur Solo Battle Event

Hi there. I have a Pokemon TCG Pocket post here. On Friday November 29, 2024 (Black Friday) the Pokemon TCG Pocket mobile game released a solo event featuring Venusaur. This is a following up from the previous Fire Pokemon Outbreak Event. Those who collected Fire Pokemon in the game should have an easier time battling the AI's Grass Pokemon.

Beginner To Expert Missions + Promo Packs

This Venusaur event is like the Lapras ex event from a couple of weeks ago. You have solo player missions where you try to defeat the CPU opponent. When you beat the CPU you earn rewards including a promotional booster pack. The booster pack that you win contains one promo card. The possible promos cards that you can win are Venusaur, Greninja, Haunter, Onix and Jigglypuff.

According to Pokebeach, the chance of getting a Venusaur is 12.66%, Greninja at 15.82% and a 23.84% chance of either Haunter, Onix and Jigglypuff.

Fire Deck Recommended

The most obvious strategy to combat the opponent's Grass deck is to play with Fire Pokemon. You can choose a Charizard ex deck or a Fire deck with Rapidash-Ninetales-Blaine. I use the Blaine deck as the speed is quite fast against slow Venusaur ex deck setups. Blaine Fire deck is also beginner friendly as you may not have Pokemon ex cards when you start out.

Use the staple cards like 2 copies of Professor's Research (Oak), 2 Poke Ball. Two potions and two X-Speeds are good too. The rest of the deck space can be used for what you want. I include 1 copy of Farfetch'd as it is a good opening Pokemon.

I did lose at the Expert level Vensuaur opponent on the first attempt. The opponent's Kangaskhan as an opening Pokemon going second on the first turn can be annoying. Kangaskhan can hit for 60 damage with one Energy if both flips are Heads. If you survive Kangaskhan at the start it should be straightforward in taking knockouts with your Fire Pokemon before the opponent gets close to getting Venusaur ex in play.
