Lara || Crochet Sundress
#needleworkmonday
So I'm my last post I made mention of this
“I finally got to make a corset top after a year or a year and a few months. I honestly don't remember the exact time I did one last but yeah I finally got to do it again. This is my second time making one and it is for meeeeeeee”
This was my dress for fashion week day 2. Basically the idea was to make a comfortable sundress. Just a plain design with a teeny bit of detailing.
I finished my top in two days. I didn't work straight hours. And I got to making the skirt. I've neverrrrr made a sundress before so this was the only logical way I thought I could work on it.
I finished the top and I used my hip measurement to make the circumference for the skirt. I made a few rows of the skirt before I joined it to the top.
The plan was to have a little slit on the skirt part of the gown.
I got to the length I wanted for the lilac and I switched to purple.
I won't lie I have a problem going round and round on big projects like this that's why I rarely make skirts.
It's not the length that is tge problem buh the round and almost unending one row before you get to tge end and start again.
Makes me really lazy most times but I'm proud to say I stood my ground and saw this unending circle to the very end.
So I wanted a short gown but not too short you know. Very mindful and very cutesy 😅😅 I tried this out a lot of times so I do not stray from the original idea I had in mind.
I Finally got the full length I wanted and I got my yarn and went on to make the sleeves.
I was a little torn in between using full stitches for the sleeves or making it mesh. Safe to say mesh won the bet. I did have a little issue with this. I honestly didn't know how to make the sleeve.
Not making it per se. Just know how many chains was enough so it's sit on my shoulder comfortable without disturbing my under arm or making the bust slack as well so it was quite the mental uhhhm what do I call it yeah a mental duel so to say but I did it 💃💃💃
I wanted to do Bell sleeves so I finished the length for the straight sleeved and went on to do increases in every stitch round the next row n I got the shape I wanted so I stopped there if I wanted bigger sleeves I would have continued till I got the width I wanted.
I just wanted the sleeves to cover my hand a little so immediately it did best believe I stopped immediately.
Next thing was repeating that for the next sleeve and once I did I used 1 row of single crochet with the purple yarn to create the cute details all over the dress and viola my first sundress, the “Lara” dress. Yes I designed it as well.
Things I used to make this corset top:
4.0 mm hook for the top
Stitch markers
12 40g yarns
Scissors
Measurement tape
Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
