LOH Contest #171. Reflexiones sobre el empoderamiento actual de la mujer//Reflections on women empowerment today[ESP-ENG]
What does Women's Empowerment mean to you and what are some of your personal experiences that motivated you to think/concern about women's empowerment?
For me empowerment is not to feel unable to perform any work that can be performed by a person, whether man or woman, I have always thought that women are as qualified to perform work of any kind as men do, I believe that a woman should never feel less than a man to perform in what she wants.
These changes that have been taking place in societies have allowed women to occupy different positions in the economic and political development of their countries, that is why we can observe women in important political positions, as well as in private companies.
At present I consider that there are few societies where they maintain a closed machismo that prevents women from demonstrating their great potential for the benefit of all, because they are maintained with laws of centuries ago that do not allow them to evolve, or will be that they are rather afraid that women act freely and show that they can be even better than that macho system that oppresses them.
In my particular case, when I was active in my work I got to hold important positions in my field, which was university teaching, also the rector was a woman so I was always surrounded by women who occupied relevant positions within the institution, besides that I always worked to achieve the highest rank, so at the time of retirement I had the highest rank and the highest studies that can be done in the university education sector.
You also have to take into account that many times to occupy these high positions within an institution you have to demonstrate the leadership you can have when working with varied groups.
What would you like to say to young women today, what advice would you give them?
Work to achieve your goals, since many things are achieved with constant work.
Be strong in every sense of your being as a person.
Make the women around you an ally to always count on their collaboration.
To make work teams with colleagues, having the best disposition to listen.
To always have the willingness to work
To share moments of recreation with colleagues, since it is always good to know each other in many instances.
¿Qué significa para ti el Empoderamiento de la Mujer y cuáles son algunas de tus experiencias personales que te motivaron a pensar/preocuparte por el empoderamiento de la mujer?
Para mí el empoderamiento consiste en no sentirse incapacitada para ejercer cualquier labor que pueda ser ejercida por una persona, sea hombre o mujer, siempre he pensado que las mujeres estamos tan capacitadas para ejercer labores de cualquier tipo como lo realizan los hombres, considero que una mujer nunca debe sentirse menos que un hombre para desempeñarse en lo que desee.
Esos cambios que se han venido dando en las sociedades ha permitido que las mujeres ocupen diferentes posiciones en el desarrollo económico y político de sus países, por ello podemos observar mujeres en importantes cargos políticos, así como en las empresas privadas.
En la actualidad considero que son pocas las sociedades donde mantienen un cerrado machismo que le impide a la mujer demostrar su gran potencial en beneficio de todos, porque se mantienen con leyes de hace siglos que no les permite evolucionar, o será que tienen más bien miedo que las mujeres actúen libremente y demostrar que pueden ser aún mejores que ese sistema machista que las oprime.
En mi caso particular cuando estaba activa en mi trabajo llegué a desempeñar importantes cargos en mi ámbito laboral, que fue la docencia universitaria, además la rectora era una mujer por lo cual siempre estuve rodeada de mujeres que ocupábamos cargos relevantes dentro de la institución, además de eso siempre trabaje para alcanzar el máximo escalafón, por lo cual al momento de jubilarme poseía el máximo escalafón y los máximos estudios que se pueden realizar en el sector educativo universitario.
También hay que tener en cuenta que muchas veces para ocupar estos altos cargos dentro de una institución hay que demostrar el liderazgo que podemos tener al trabajar con grupos variados.
¿Qué te gustaría decir a las mujeres jóvenes de hoy, qué consejo les darías?
Trabajar para alcanzar sus metas, ya que muchas cosas se logran con el trabajo constante.
Tener una fortaleza en todos los sentidos de su ser como persona.
Hacer de las mujeres a su alrededor unas aliadas para contar siempre con su colaboración
Realizar equipos de trabajo con compañeros, teniendo la mejor disposición para oír.
Tener siempre la disposición al trabajo
Compartir momentos de recreación con los compañeros, ya que siempre es bueno conocernos en muchas instancias.
