Burger: The overhyped Meal

avatar

Hyping can be powerful in the world of food. The clamor, remarkable description of sensation, the facial gesture from a taste of it, the rave reviews on social media, and the expressed desire can be a draw of attention. But sometimes, all the hyping and painted memories of it can be misleading, some of these meals don't live up to its expectations, some of them fall short of it's lofty promises, maybe for me who's not a foodie and this leaves me wondering if I had eaten the wrong one. I'll be talking about the all hyped celestial burger, by the name "celestial" you'll imagine a heavenly, sweet, and unforgettable meal, but no, it's just a burger.

The hype
The person who first told me the story behind this burger must have been a foodie. And the waves it made during those moments was something that drew my curiosity. With its sleek packaging and Instagram worthy presentation, it was enough to cause a draw. Great ingredients are added to it, and the price is impressive. Sometimes expectations lessen the feeling when one has his first taste I think, but to my precious foodie, the celestial burger beats others she has eaten.

I am no fan of snacks, I love the african meals, a good swallow and delicious soup, but the hype made me curious and I decided to go have a taste of it. It cost more than I budget for meals, but I told myself to have a taste of it and for the first time try something new. Besides, I wouldn't die if I spent more than I normally budget for daily food.

The reality
Beneath the hype, glamor, and praise, the celestial burger is just like any other burger. First, it was salty, secondly, the patty was overcooked, the bun, crumbly and dry. Nothing about it tasted good except maybe the beef, which itself wasn't my major desire. For a moment I wondered what that lady loved about the burger, nothing was celestial about it and I didn't enjoy it, equaling my expectations. I found myself struggling to finish that bunch of loaf and squeezing my face. It didn't taste like anything described on social media, or the hype made by my friend. It was at that moment I realized I've wasted money for an experience that was not worthwhile. The celestial burger falls flat for a meal that promises a good experience, maybe for me.

Now I approach meals with caution. Sometimes one's experience may differ from another and it all depends on what we enjoy as individuals. I realized there are a lot of things I don't enjoy that some individuals claim are good. The celestial burger or burger may be overhyped and I wonder how many have been fooled by the clamor and social media presentations of the meal. It may look fine to capture the eyes, but the taste can speak something entirely different. I've read a debate where people try to compare burger and pizza, and this is evidence that our taste differs and some people may still prefer the over-hyped burger, the celestial burger that is not actually celestial.

I can relate to feeling disappointed despite the hype and just like you, I don't have any interest in burgers after my first try. I prefer to have homemade snacks over it any day and anytime.

Smile
Maybe it gives people who enjoy it a special taste that we're yet to find out

Wo, I can't relate. Well, not in the meaning that I enjoy it... not that. I just haven't tasted it yet. The only person I know who hypes it well is my big brother. I just don't know it as a snack that people are crazy about.
What I think, though, that is overhyped, is pizza😪

Hahaha.
Social Media and hyping. They're not what social Media portray them to be

Hi @dwixer

I would say that one's first experience with a particular food is important. It's possible the person has little knowledge of making a quality Burger or pays little attention to its taste. Now with your first experience which wasn't a good one, I doubt you would be interested in purchasing another one even when it's a quality and top-notch one.

Do you eat bread or sandwiches?

Another thing is that some people's high-quality might be low-quality for you because they are comfortable eating anything and enjoy it.

It may hurt to spend money on what we're not satisfied with and it could discourage us from trying the same product again.

I prefer a homemade burger to a restaurant's, but if I'm sure of the quality of ingredients they used and the preparation process, then I wouldn't mind patronizing them.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

This means you've ate burger that you really enjoyed, right? Maybe I couldn't give a conclusion with just one trial

Sometimes one's experience may differ from another

That's why they say "one man's food is another man's poison"

This got me

The person who first told me the story behind this burger must have been a foodie.

I froze when I read this 😂
