Cultural Diversity
I schooled in the Northern part of my country Nigeria. A state dominated by the Hausa people, myself is Gbagyi by tribe from Niger state. One thing I noticed about them while I studied there was the segregation among tribes. There was this "His my tribal person" kind of attitude that was displayed even in the sector of education. Native of the land had more benefits than people who came from other states. Gradually we also started to separate ourselves from them, forming our tribal team , hoping to benefit us equally.
It was easier to help students in my team than helping people who I believe already have an advantage over us. And one of the advantages they had is that they are favored in the area of exams and scores. Knowing fully well that they had nothing to suffer, I chose to help especially people from my own culture when it was necessary. One attitude they had was not remorseful for their actions even when they were the cause. Their relationship with other tribes was never commensal , the others always had something to lose.
Not everyone had such behavior, there were few who made good friends with other tribes. However, the majority of them made us realize the diversity among us even though it was a school environment where culture needed to be put aside for the benefit of us all. This only showed how deep our culture had eaten us, for us to see others as strangers even in a system where everyone was suppose to be one
This is so sad, although different cultures, we belong to one nation and should behave as one but it's sad seeing that other tribes segregate a lot.
It happens a lot
It is a sad thing when there is separation at a social level, since the members of the general group belong to the same entity, be it a country, nation or town. Tribality remains an obstacle to achieving peaceful cultural diversity.
That's true, this segregation is form in almost every sector
This thing really hit hard from that part of the world.
Even the northerners living off North, they have this sense of difference in them.
I think this is common in most tribes, not just the northerners. We believe in helping our own
It is now more of "he is from my tribe" thing nowadays and they only favor themselves rather than spreading the benefits all around everyone and never considering "same tribe" thing.

I think that's the system that works around many culture now. Even in the place of employment
It is even common in the aspect of employment. If you aren't their tribe, you won't be employed. It's a connection thing.
You are really kind! I hope in the near future we will have less discrimination or inconvenience related to cultural diversity...
I pray we do. That's our hope
