Early Childhood Programming

Raising Children or a child is not an easy task. It takes prayer, dedication and discipline to truly achieve one's goal in a child's upbringing. Our society has been affected more by the kind of children we've raised than the economy or state of the nation. In school we learned there are two forms of education, the informal and the formal. The informal is the education a child gets at home, and for me, this is the basic form of education and the most important in a child's life and that's the reason why I have purposed in my heart to raise my children in a certain manner.

I wasn't raised by any of my parents, and I could see the effect it had on me , mostly negatively. This has become who I am, no matter how much I try to change it, it still sticks. This shows how powerful an early child's programming or upbringing might be. The bible says, train a child on how he should go, so that when he grows, he'll not depart from it. This is how much impact a parent's training can have on a child and that is why I wouldn't do certain things in the process of training my children. I have observed from the life of so many parents and children and had pinpoint certain things I will stay away from when raising my children. Backing them up with prayer.

One things I'll avoid in the process of raising a child is"Portraying the African mentally that house chores are meant for the ladies". So many families have trained the male and female separately when it comes to house chores. They tag certain jobs to be for the male and other groups of chores to be for the female and this has successfully raised men who feel women are designed for the chores and shouldn't be their concern. I wasn't raised that way, I was raised like a woman, I do every of the chores and that has helped me a lot.

Secondly, I wouldn't raise my children in a way where I make them value material things more than the value of their faith. The love of money has bred evil in our society and this may be from the value they've placed on money and material things. Money is good, but the love of it is destructive, this should be one lesson that should ring in their head daily. Helping them value humanity, maintain integrity and honesty will be the goal.

Children learn most from what they see and that's why living the kind of life I'll want them to maintain must be a practical thing to do. I'll help them learn that a perfect and a happy family is possible. I know misunderstanding comes in marriage, but we'll also teach them the act of forgiveness and forbearance. So I'll never make them feel a happy home is not possible, and I'll never introduce pride when it comes to apologizing for our wrongs. And finally, I'll never over pamper them, I'll leave a space for lack even when i have everything, this will help them understand the joy of having and the pain that comes with lack.
