SAND WORM
THE SAND WORM.
This is the first time I will be participating in this contest or any at all on hive. So far I haven't gotten a warm welcome and navigating the system is tasking. I have played my part though and made sure to check out whatever I find to be of help or useful.
It was in one of my snooping sessions that I came across some splinterlands art entries and this led me here, right to this post. I was fascinated by the fact that the game has been on for this long and also that the characters available are as vast as ideas. There were so many cards I wanted to try out but the pose of the Sand Worm reminded me of Nagini from the Fantastic Beasts stories. It was this essence therefore that I wanted to capture: the slimy, conny attitude of a predator.
I kicked off the drawing with a rough sketch of the character with my primary color and tried my best not to make it pronounced so that it wouldn't affect the future layers...
I then made a quick run through with my black and red pen on the given layout. The main idea was to have the worm head out after slithering through the hanging cliffs.
To depict the little distance I was perceiving I darkened the said areas with black and made the worm more pronounced with blue.
...after with I crafted the layout of a dog who was to be a spectator. The throry behind this is to have that horror movie effect where the dog looks on and is then snatched.
As the layout of the dog became pronounced I added more depth to certain areas to boost the figure and it turned out well.
I think the next thing I did was to make firm the surface on which the dog is standing and then add some red to depict dripping blood.
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
