Beersaturday in Brügge
Belgium Beer Experience
English °

Belgium is known for its variety of beers. I already knew this before I went there, but I became more aware of it when we were there. Everywhere there was a beer bar where you could order more than 50 different beers.
In Bruges there were several of these bars, and each one offered four different beers in 0.2 liter glasses for a price of about 10 euros. The price was ok, you also had to wash 4 different glasses.
Of course we did that. There was a BEER EXPERIENCE museum right on the large square in the center with a pub above it.
A dark beer, a light beer, a kirsch beer and a wheat beer. So that was my selection.
What I really liked was the location. A wonderful view of the market square right by the window.
There was actually nothing going on. You could pick up your beers very quickly at the bar.
Even though the ambience was really nice, the real reason was the beer.
Unfortunately, I have to say that the beers didn't really convince me. At least not from my Bavarian point of view. They were nice cold drinks that I really enjoyed, but I'm not going to award any stars here. I'm just a bit blinded when it comes to the taste of beer.
But it was always interesting.
But that wasn't the only beer highlight for me in Bruges.
Another bar was built into a passage called Beerwall Street. Very funny and worth seeing.
When we wanted to leave the passage again, there was this strange staircase to the basement at the exit on the left.
The sign above it read: The only place where Heaven is.... Downstairs.
A barrier blocked the way. When a path is blocked, you're even more curious.
And what do you do as a good German tourist? Of course, you check whether the barrier is closed.
Oh wonder, it wasn't.
So off we went downstairs. What a clever marketing strategy, because downstairs we realized it's just a beer store.
But made like a museum in the cellar.
And similar to IKEA, there was only one way out. You had to walk through the whole store.
Until at some point the stairs led back up again.
But it didn't end here either. The path continued through three rooms to the final checkout.
I have to admit, I was on the verge of buying something and bringing my friends a souvenir from this beer souvenir store.
But then I didn't, because in the end it would have just been garbage. Without all the hassle of going down to the cellar and all the decorations, any souvenir would be worth nothing.
But still, if you're ever in Bruges, stop by Beer Street. It's definitely fun.
Die Aufschrift drüber: The only place where Heaven is.... Downstairs.
Also ab nach unten.

The beers look really great and at only €10 is a great deal.
In fact, the 10 euro offer was really favourable. A 0.5 litre beer in the pub regularly costs around 6 to 7 euros.

.Oh wow this beer adventure is special for many reasons!
Belgium is definitely a historical mecca for beer with to many unique and definitive traditions. Then you discover a place like this that is unique and add mind-blowing variety, classic style and a secret staircase?!?
Looks like I HAVE to make Bruges and on !BEER Street as a stop on my global beer tour when Hive hits $10!
The stairs down were pretty cool and Bruges is definitely worth a trip. The beer is at least interesting. But I personally like Bavarian beers better. But that's a very personal opinion and the comparison is actually unfair.

Wow, Belgium is greatly blessed if one can get such varieties of beers there. But, you mentioned that one also need to was 4 cups. Please, does it mean that customers must wash the cups before leaving?
The beers looks more than attractive. Please hand me one cup
