I recently visited my mother-in-law's house. It is a country town located at the foot of the Coordillera de Guaniguanico, in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. It is a mountainous structure quite long and very attractive, with its hummocks and valleys, some of them recognized worldwide as the Viñales Valley; in short, a good place to photograph, beautiful, exotic and with a unique environment.

At mid-morning I set out to walk around the place with my camera on my shoulder. The abundant vegetation and the contrast between plain and mountain invite me to take some snapshots. Along the way, some imposing trees appear on the side of the road. After a while I feel that something is looking at me from above and in the distance, I continue on my way, but I am uncomfortable with this feeling of being watched, as if they were spying on me. I stop and zoom my camera looking for some indication, I take some pictures but I don't notice anything strange. Well, I continue on my way and later return home.

After a while I start to review the images and I am surprised by one in particular, it seems to me that I had found the origin of the look that was spying on me. For those strange things that nature has, I find a face in the mountain, as if sculpted by the hands of an artist.

That was what was calling me! Could it be that he wanted me to share his presence? I don't know! I put these shots for your consideration and thank you for the opportunity to participate in the Photofeed Landscape Contest.

Hace poco estuve de visita en casa de mi suegra. Es un pueblo de campo que se encuentra al pie de la Coordillera de Guaniguanico, en Pinar del Río, Cuba. Esta es una estructura montañosa bastante larga y muy atractiva, con sus mogotes y valles, algunos de ellos reconocidos mundialmente como el Valle de Viñales; en fin un buen lugar para fotografiar, hermoso, exótico y con un entorno singular.
A media mañana me dispuse a caminar los alrededores del lugar con mi cámara al hombro. La abundante vegetación y el contraste entre llano y montaña me invitan a tomar algunas instantáneas. En el trayecto aparecen a mi paso algunos imponentes árboles al costado de la calle. Al rato presiento que algo me mira dese arriba y a lo lejos, continuo mi camino, pero me incomoda esta sensación de ser observado, como si me estuvieran espiando. Me detengo y aplico el zoom a mi cámara buscando algún indicio, tomo algunas fotografías pero no noto nada extraño. Pues bien, sigo mi camino y más tarde regreso a casa.
Al rato comienzo revisar las imágenes y me sorprende una en particular, me parece que había encontrado el origen de la mirada que me espiaba. Por esas cosas extrañas que tiene la naturaleza encuentro un rostro en la montaña, como esculpido por la manos de un artista. ¡Eso era lo que me llamaba! ¿Será que quería que compartiera su presencia? ¡No lo sé!
